On my last day with her, she tugged at the sash that tied the back of my blouse & pulled the Virgin Mary pendant around my neck close to her. I sang to her "You Are My Sunshine", her favorite song that she sang to all of us when we were growing up. Her eyes welled up & her lips trembled as she clutched my pendant to her forehead. I looked @ her & told her: "Thank you for giving me my dad & being the best mom to him so he was the best dad to me." She reached out for me & actually put both of her arms around me despite her connections to the tubes. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer as I told her how much I appreciate her for her compassion & never-ending support of our family, how much I admire her heart of gold. When it was me who should've been comforting her, she was the 1 who comforted me by hugging me tightly. Her right hand slid into my blouse to rub my back, so we massaged each other. Auntie Mila walked in & got Mama to tell me: "I love you. I love you very much." This was the 1st time that I heard her talking since I've been there unless she said she was in pain, which she mostly showed when she'd touch her chest, her tummy, her legs, & her forehead. Auntie Mila took my phone to take pictures of Mama & me yet ended up recording video 1st of us embracing each other.
