A lil style test for some cat socks I'd like to make. I think a few sets of dark/grey/black sock designs will be good to balance out all the bright colours I'm already way into. :) Also! I...ruptured my spine this week so my holiday is ending abruptly. ^^ Currently in the process of finding a flight home so I can get the surgery I need etc. It's been a tough week. The upshot is that my store will reopen a few weeks earlier than expected since I'll be back home to pack orders soon ahaha. Just trying to look forward to the little things right now since I probably have a long recovery ahead of me. By the time I get home the samples of noodle and shibe sock designs should be there so I'm keen to see those myself and to show you all as well. :)

I'm at SMASH! in Sydney this weekend! My favourite convention of the year. :D I've got my brand heckin new washi tapes (they're so cool!!) and my new pins. New stickers and prints, too! Come on by Table 145 if you're there! After this I'll be at Madfest in Melbourne (in two weeks) then Sydney and Brisbane OzCC. The whole Aussie East Coast p much..!

I’ll be at Supanova Sydney this weekend (17-19 June 2016)! I’ve got plush, pins (including merit stars), comics, etcetera... ‘tis cheaper to buy from me in person than online generally sooooo do with that info what you will.

This past Saturday was Comicstreet, an event run by @beabravo and myself! We wanted to put independent comics creators right smack bang in the middle of the city center and BY JOVE WE DID IT. It went really heckin’ well!! I think we introduced a lot of randoms to indie comics and a bunch of artists made some extra cashola...with which to make more comics. >:3c

Comicstreet was a massive amount of work for a tiny budget and just two people who aren’t getting paid to do this. I’m v proud of us. We deserve five thousand medals probably.

Popped into my local craft bat today to see my art bar mat out on the bar! I got this photo of it while I was there.

I like to think people I’ve never met strike up awesome conversations over it... And then I cuss myself out for not putting my web url on there somewhere. :’)

Wow okay so today’s a big day.

The latest Boxfox stock arrived! I’m restocked on a bunch of things AND I’ve got the white Parallelorams now AND the Purple, Yellow and Pink Boxfox Mascots are a go for the first time ever!! I already put up stock in the new store but I don’t have the time for nice photos atm.

Also it is Back To The Future Day! Also it is MY BIRTHDAY!!! So that’s cool.

IN 6(!) DAYS I will be at SMASH!, the anime convention in Sydney and probably my favourite artist alley of the year! There’s over 120 tables this year, which is frankly amazing, and some of those are people who have travelled from overseas! I’ll have my usual complement of books, posters, stickers and postcards (way more than I could fit above) and of course Boxfox, Squarebear and Taiyakikarp plush! For the first time ever I’m going to have acrylic charms, which will be interesting to say the least.

There’s loads of other amazing artists to check out next weekend! I started writing out a list of people to point out but it was actually too long so instead please have a look at the smashcon Tumblr page, which has been reblogging everyone’s table placement promo and art this week!

Last life drawing post for a long while! I just thought it'd be fun to share some this week.

These are from tonight. You can totally tell I'm a storyboards/comics/animation person at heart rather than an illustrator... I get tired of a pose after about ten minutes and start redrawing it. That's more useful to me than spending 50% of my time on hyper-realistic shading. I also do my best to get in at least one decent study of each model's face. Gotta study faces for character design reasons aw yeah. Faces generally take me just as long as the rest of the pose. There's a lot of detail to get exactly right because the human brain is so good at processing faces! When you get faces wrong, it's really obvious.

One of the models tonight had really interesting feet - super clear tendon and ankle structure - so that was good. Feeling like I understand feet a bit better now.
