A "pure" opinion: my take on vegan beauty products
With this pregnancy, I wanted to be as healthy as possible, eliminating unnecessary toxins that I put in and on my body. Have you ever scrolled through the Skin Deep website? Do it. Check out the toxins that make up your favorite skincare products - it’s frightening!
After doing so, I cleaned house and switched to the 100% Pure line. They make cleansers, facial moisturizers, eye creams, body lotions - anything and everything you need for a complete skin care routine (and a fourth of the cost of my previous favorite). Except that it didn’t exactly agree with my skin. I was extremely dry and broken out (excluding what was caused by pesky pregnancy hormones). I thought it was my skin adapting to a new product, but a month or so later and I was still in the same predicament - less than stellar skin.
In a panic, I consulted with my friends at Sprout and discovered the Mambino line (they seem to know all about expecting mommy products). Instead of buying a thousand new products that I may or may not like, I decided to be smart and start with one to test it out (genius, I know). The Youth Glow Omega Face Serum is an amazing product. I apply in the morning before my moisturizer and foundation and again at night after my cleanser. The result is soft, hydrated skin. A definite improvement!
While I didn’t care for the 100% Pure line, I am definitely loving the Mambino products I’ve tried thus far (Baby B will also benefit from the milky washes and calming oils…although, I really hope I don’t need the last one…namaste). I’m still searching for a skincare line with less toxins that will be kind to both my body and the appearance of my skin, but I may just have to face the fact (pun intended) that this t-zone needs a little more help than avocado butter and thyme.
Any low toxicity products that are must-haves?
