Welcome to the world of yoga
Yoga can often be viewed as pointless by those who believe that muscle building and sculpting can only be achieved by vigorously pumping iron in the gym day in day out. However, it is correct to note that yoga is in fact great for any bodybuilder as it ensures a strong posture as well as aiding the process of muscle sculpting.
Given the popularity of yoga, one would presume that most are in the know about the specific form of exercise. However, ask a handful of people what yoga is and they will give you different descriptions, in the same sense, attend a handful of different yoga classes and you will emerge from each with a different experience and perception. This is because there are many different forms of this popular exercise and in turn it can be adapted.
The word yoga means “union” in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where yoga was first originated over 5,000 years ago. This ‘union’ often refers to the coming together of mind, body and spirit, hence why many see yoga as a form of meditation. Yoga refers to the practice of different physical postures called ‘asana’s’. However nowadays asana’s and yoga are often thought of as the same thing even though Asana makes up only one type of yoga.
Each specific yoga pose can be done in succession as a form of light cardio or alternatively they can be performed as a means of building strength, which is said to be drawn from within. There are many standing poses as well as sitting and lying poses which require a floor mat.
Due to yoga being able to strengthen your posture it is also good for bringing physical imbalance and tension to light and to release this imbalance and tensions from within.
