A taxi pulled up to a quaint hotel, letting out a very tall and broad shouldered man. He tipped the driver, gave a hearty goodbye and wave, before looking around the property before him.
He couldn’t help chuckling to himself—this sort of locale was right up her alley. Secluded and affordable, but far from low quality. It was one of those family-owned places, homey with local charm woven into every stone and foundation.
“Ja...this is definitely the place.”
Hoisting his bag further up onto his shoulders, he strolled to the reception. His name was already assigned to a hostile style accommodation, the connecting room already taken as he’d expected—and he already knew who by. Another hearty goodbye, and the man took his key and headed up to his room.
It took very little time to get settled into his temporary hideaway for the unforeseen future. Clothes hung up, toiletries unpacked, books laid out on the desk. Pleased with his setup, hands on his hips triumphantly, he glanced to the door connecting his room to the next. He’d sensed her moving around inside, heard the melodic humming and scribbling of notes through the wall. No doubt, she already knew he was here, too.
The man strode over to the door, and gave it a light knock. There was silence, a pause, before he could hear footsteps approaching. The door opened, and a familiar face greeted him.
“Well hello, Mana. I was beginning to think you weren’t going to show up before Spring.”
“Nonsense! I know how much you hate people being late. I left as soon as I got your call.”
“Well good. Let’s not waste any more time then—I have much to fill you in on.”
