Five Day Plan, The Essay © 2018 Frederick J. Cowie, Ph.D. As a Russian Linguist for Army Security fifty odd years ago, we always spoke of Russia’s Five Year Plan management concept. I also used to think in five-year-plan chunks of time, (bachelor’s degree, doctoral degree, etc.), now it’s more like five day plans. I do still do some long term planning. [Like getting musicians ready for my November 2, 2018 event, The Fourth Quarter Fraudville Party at LaPa on 6th Avenue, uphill from the Montana Club. It will commence at five and go to nine, the Friday night of the Fall Art Walk. My motto for my The Fourth Quarter (Years 76-100) is “Live to 100—or Die Trying!”] Yet, for the most part, I now concentrate more effectively and efficiently on the sub-tasks of the Management By Objectives system (Goals, Objectives, Tasks, Sub-Tasks), those things that need to be done in the next five days, starting with today, every day, every morning. My next five days are a painting adventure. I am driving, hiding, reading, writing, and painting—concentrating for five days on staying on task, on budget, on schedule. I can make it too one hundred, but only if I work on it five days at a time. #fredcowie #managementbyobjectives #meditation #relaxation #deepbreathing #exercise #yoga #goals #objectives #tasks #subtasks #fredcowie #professionalartist #stressmanagement #lastchancelifecoach #helenamontana
