Aaradhna makes History, being the first Polynesian solo aritst to headline at the Apollo Music Café (Apollo Theatre) in Harlem, New York (U.S.A). Girlfriend made her musical debut in 2004 as a featured singer on the single Getting Stronger (with Adeaze), which peaked at number one on the NZ Singles Chart. Aaradhna's latest album 'Treble & Reverb' received several nominations at the 2013 New Zealand Music Awards and won the award for 'Album of the Year'. As the first lady of 'Dawn Raid', Aaradhna is now set to make history as she will be the first Poly solo artist to represent at the Apollo Music Café. (Aaaaamazing! Get it girl)

Known to all here as Teina. Teina was born in Algiers, and has traveled extensively in her childhood, spending time in Canada hence the Canadian twang...She is mother to 6 beautiful children and her roots are firmly planted back home in Rarotonga. She is a Proud Mangaian and Pamati with flecks of Sumaringa and Hollywood in the mix!! On her maternal grandfather's side she is a descendant of William Marsters and on her maternal grandmothers side descendant of Captain Emil Piltz (German) who married in to the Poroaiti in Mangaia. She is a true advocate for the environment and works tirelessly with environmental and climate change agencies such as TIS, Seabed Minerals and Marae Moana. Teina recently stood as an Independent Candidate in the last local elections in Ngatangiia. Teina follows in little brothers Numa Mackenzies footsteps. She joined the vaka for her first voyage to Suwarrow last year with TIS/NES/Birdlife team who were on a Rat Eradication program to the island. Ok everyone, I am putting together a Women of the Pacific zine and I would really really like it if people submitted on who they think should be in the zine.  

Cause yah I can put it all together, but it'd be great if it were a community effort, and represented people outside of my own world and knowledge.   So please submit women of the Pacific that you think are rad and should be highlighted!  And please spread widely! Mauruuru in advance

Sāmoa is a place, in case you are wondering.

It is a chain of islands broken in two

Sliced down the middle

From head to pelvis.

Sāmoa’s right side of the body

Was Germany’s favorite place

To call home.

Samoa’s left side of the body

Was a US military’s wet dream

And still is.

Matriarchy raised Sāmoa

And yet the missionaries came anyways.

Gave Sāmoa a God anyways.

Sāmoa is a gracious body

Even after the auctioning off

Of its limbs,

Even after every visitor

Came in uninvited

Ready for the carving.

  Sāmoa used to belong to itself

But doesn’t anymore.

  I know the feeling.

  I used to belong to myself

But don’t anymore.

  I am a gracious body.

My thighs
