GIVEN, both were courageous and DARING warriors, trained under separate mantras. POWER gained his favor while speed shone into her movements and the way her body turned to dodge the attempted jab at her shoulder. Within her turn, a leg swung up, ramming into his side. “ ------ C’mon, Lock, I thought you knew me better than THAT.” A toying tone dripped from her words, candy coated with the smile that dazzled itself onto her features.

brielle let out a soft sigh, laying in the grass under the night sky of d’qar. she often liked to leave the base when she could and simply watch the stars as she had as a child. she reached her arm out to the sky, pretending to grasp the stars in her hands.
“papa, the stars are so pretty!” “i’ll bring you a star, princess.”
she shivered at the memory and rested her arm back on her chest, eyes darting around to watch every possible part of the dome above her. beautiful.

The more Shepard learned about Cerberus, the more strain it put on their already precarious relationship. Hell, she knew they were sketchy the moment she agreed to work with them. Eva killed men for committing lesser crimes, but they were her only path to the Reapers right now. She had to work with them.
That’s what she kept telling herself. She was also starting to wonder what Cerberus’ obsession was with experimenting on humans. They’d pulled this guy - named Lock according to what little files they salvaged - out of cryo at an abandoned Cerberus base. Shepard had yet to talk to the Illusive Man and EDI had reported is vital signs as strong. Now it was only a matter of waiting for him to wake up.
“Any change in him, Dr. Chakwas?” Eva made her way over, coming to a stop next to his bed.
“Not yet, Commander.” The doctor swiveled in her chair to observe the two. “If you’ll excuse me, I haven’t had a proper meal in hours. Can you watch him for a moment?”
“Sure, go ahead doctor.” Chakwas left and Eva seated herself on the nearby bed. Who was this guy? Rather, who was he before Cerberus got their grimy hands on him?

The Force guided Kihanda’s lightsaber in a dazzling flash of yellow as plasma bolts ricocheted off. She sensed her opponents moves before they were made and felt their panic rising as each attack failed. A few more steps and she would be close enough to finish this and continue on her mission.
Suddenly, the blaster fire was gone, and the Imperial soldier she was approaching slumped to his knees before falling over and revealing a figure behind him. Kihanda stopped, eyes wary, and lowered her lightsaber, the yellow gleam receding with a hiss. It didn’t seem as if the new arrival would attack, but she couldn’t be certain either.
“Thank you.”

“Honestly, I’m not entirely sure that this day should be a holiday. Just makes the single people feel even more lonely than they already do which...” She stopped as soon as she realized she was rambling, staring down at the drink in her hand, cheeks going red. “Sorry.”

While the redhead’s gaze dropped, it’s like her mind kept tugging to the way the man seemed to inch closer. Her mind occasionally drifted from the main topic at hand, that was more from optimistic thoughts and things to ease such a stressed and TORTURED mind. There was a reason she counted on him -- they knew one another, more than simple professional contacts. “ ----------- Well, things have CHANGED. A lot, actually. Y’know?”
