Cinnamon

Having not done anything since early February, I slowly return to doing creative shit. It's been a long 5 months of stress and moving and mental health problems. I got bored one day recently and decided to doodle a bab, then it spiraled from there, and here we are.This is one of my D & D OCs, specifically my warlock character's psuedodragon familiar. I wanted a cat dragon, so dammit I made one.

How much pain does D feel from years of discrimination as a dhampir? It's definitely implied he's lonely but it's hard to tell if he is resentful about it at all, since he almost always has that cold stoic front. He might be partly 'it is what it is' by this point about it. (Also, hope I have not been annoying you with all my messages XD)

I’m inclined to agree with the notion that D is on the ‘it is what it is’ side of things. Like, it absolutely sucks, but there isn’t much he can do about it so why let it bother him personally when he has more important things to deal with?

Granny Viper gives us an idea of what it might feel like - but again, D is D. We have an idea, but we’ll never truly know until such time when Kikuchi-san gives us that side of D in another story.

What I can say about his feelings toward being discriminated against, on a person-to-person aspect versus society in general, is if someone is being openly shitty about what he is…he will make his feelings known one way or another. As time has progressed in the series, D seems to have become more comfortable about what he is, on top of already being one to not take shit from others.

One case in particular - Lilia from White Devil Mountain…an absolute asshole who had no qualms about pointing out the fact the D’s a dhampir, and rubbed it in his face by basically shaming him in front of other people. At one point in the story, D basically whipped out his sword, stopping just short of slicing into her face, and gave her a look that said ‘shut the fuck up’. Of course, being the asshole that she was, Lilia’s like ‘wtf was that for?’ Another character then had to point out that D had left a cut on her nose and explained to her ‘you pissed him off, that was a warning…you got off light…next time you might not be so lucky’.

Obviously D doesn’t like it, however, he has his ways of tuning it out…but he’ll straight up cut a bitch if he has to.

My thoughts on D and Doris

If some fans want to ship them, that's their prerogative. I don't. I have a rocky fan relationship with Doris. She's not a bad character, and I don't necessarily hate her...but I'm not overly fond of her either. And my reason for that is that damn sofa scene from the first book. Some think it's romantic and cute...I think it's gross. Why? When Doris pushes her naked body onto D, trying to coerce/seduce him into taking his payment before fighting Count Lee... D might die during that fight and she wants to fuck him before that happens... He has to take his compensation at some point, right? No. No, he doesn't. And D's body language suggests he doesn't want her on him. What Doris is doing is essentially sexual harassment, doesn't matter that she thinks she's in love with him, and it absolutely irks me to no end that she basically gets away with it - if one doesn't count later events as karma, which in of itself is cringe-worthy, obviously. Think about what happens in other parts of the story. How is Doris' ploy any different from what the three sisters were doing? How is it different from what Greco was trying to do to her? Or Rei-Ginsei for that matter, who was actively attempting to rape her... The only real difference is that Doris lacks any malicious intent, but that doesn't make it right. She's still pulling the 'I'm your boss, this is your payment, and you have to take it'. It's gross, and I hate her for that. The only bit of redemption her character gets is from the first movie. Thank god they had a different scene, basically leaving out the sofa scene all together and instead having the one where she's crying against him and D's triggered by her blood.

D meeting a fangirl headcannon

He does the same thing he does with everyone else. Fangirls are no different. 

Running up to him and being all “OMG I LOVE YOU”…they’d be considerably lucky if they got any kind of verbal response from him, like “Thank you” or “Good for you” before he walks off. Otherwise, all anyone is going to get is an aloof glance in their direction, and only if he feels inclined to turn his head.

D is not one for adulation. No one should expect special treatment just because they express their undying love.

D keeps everyone at arms length, he does not get personable - doesn’t matter who it is. He is keen to ignore and be ignored, unless it involves hunting vampires.
