Goodbye Piposa
Well, week one is coming to a close. And what a lovely end to it! I am writing this in a lovely rocking chair, on me and Sarah's lovely porch, at the most lovely ever Mango Valley Hotel near Grecia, CR. This place has been unreal. Nestled away in the mountains amongst the coffee terraces, it is a series of about 6 guest houses and a dining room. Beautifully decorated, it is the perfect place to unwind, to think, and to soak up the beauty of the Alejuela province. Jose Luis and Dovile have been the perfect hosts. It feels like staying with family. I have had a bit more time to do me things here, although my number one priority and interest has still been spending time with my closest friend, my momma. It's nice to have time to talk without the stress of every day life, and as it was in January, the stress of living together! So I have been re reading the best book in the world, The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac (never ending thanks to my dear friend Curt for giving this novel to me!) and it has benefited me immensely. I find myself identifying greatly with the main character Ray, and the youthful innocence, kindness and idealism that he embodies. I have strayed somewhat from these virtues and it feels good to be getting back. I have also been recording with my iRig mic on my iPad. The trials and tribulations of that journey will be saved for a later post. But it is coming along! Slowly but surely! Fingers crossed for a completed demo upon my return! Tomorrow my mother and aunt head back to Canada, and Sarah and I will be heading on to Uvita and the Tucan Hotel in southern Costa Rica. I am very excited because we will be arriving the night of the open mic jam session at the hostel. Let the music flow free! And let the backpacking begin!
