These are called "mani khorlo" in Dzongkha which literally means "prayer wheels". Mani Khorlo can be seen almost everywhere in the country. Most temples are surrounded by a hundred and eight mani khorlos. On the outside, the mantra "om mani padme hung" is written in Sanskrit.
