So... technically this is my first official digital painting? I’ve worked on photoshop for a long time but never did something this detailed before. So... I guess call this my first official digital piece that wasn’t random doodles? I have to start somewhere, I guess. Typically I prefer traditional media to doing full color works but this was also for an assignment and decided to draw one of my favorite maniraptorian dinos. Apologies for any scientific inconsistencies.
I’m more proud of how I managed to complete this rather than how I executed it. With more planning and less experimentation it could be much better. I do like how I drew the dinosaur’s face but microraptor is notoriously difficult to draw correctly since it has an extra pair of wings. I’m guessing this took over 20 hours, maybe a bit less (it was all a tired blur).
1/10 of my time was spent on the eye lol shoot me plz
Dinovember day 21- Maniraptorian, Microraptor
How to draw wings too short; a picture by me.
a Balaur bondoc defending it's single Chick from an Elopteryx. an Idea I had based around the Theory that Balaur bondoc may have been Omnivorous or even completely Herbivorous. With it's Backwards-Facing Pubis and it's Evolved Fourth Toe to support it's Plant-Digesting Gut, it was likely on the path of becoming a Psuedo-Therizinosaur. But I wondered if those Claws still had Dangerous uses, despite being a Hummus Nibbler. And then I remembered; Cassowaries. Cassowaries eat Fallen Fruit and Fungi, but those Feet are made to Kill, stabbing it's Enemies in the Throat, Stomach, or Groin. Now what does that sound like? Yep, a Dromaeosaurid. So, I put the two together and got this. A Cassowary Raptor. Honestly scarier than a Carnivorous Raptor, if you ask me.
