· Plat de ceràmica esmaltada amb decoració floral polícroma. Manofactura de Manises del segle XIX, signat al dors amb l'acrònim VMD (). Porta anella de filferro lanyada al dors per poder ser penjat. (Ø) Diàmetre: 35 cms. Molt bon estat de conservació. () VMD: acrònim format per les inicials del terrisser Vicente Martínez Díez, nascut a Sevilla el 1838 i documentat com a fabricant de Manises fins al 1910.

Horta Oest (“West Orchard”) is one of the parts in which the historical Horta de València area is divided nowadays.

Some of the towns in this area are known for their artisans. Since the 18th century, the towns of Aldaia and Alaquàs have been known for its production of hand fans, which can be very elaborated and painted.

Manises is recognised by UNESCO as a Creative City in the modality of Crafts and Folk Arts for the shiny lustreware ceramics with blue and gold colours that the city has been producing since the 14th century. These ceramics became an important product in the European trade until the late 16th century.

A more tragic thing for which this area is known is for the cemetery of Paterna. The city of Paterna resisted against the advance of the fascist troops in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), but in the end the fascists won the war. Then, Paterna’s cemetery became a location where the fascists brought prisoners from around the Valencian Country to kill them and throw their corpses in unmarked mass graves. There are more than 100 mass graves and it’s thought that more than 2000 people were “buried” here between 1939 and 1956.
