Day 2 - His Daddy’s Son

A little backstory description I wrote :) @gentapprentices

Fynn was born in a smallish village that lies between the Sea of Persephia and the outskirts of the ‘Great Gate’-mountain range. He lost his parents to an illness quite early in life, so he was raised by his uncle Quenjo, whoFynn calls ‘Quen’.

His early childhood was filled with adventures with other children from the village playing in the forest close to their homes. They played hide and seek and imagined they were great adventurers that discovered new places and treasures. But he was also interested at looking at all the interesting books his uncle had lying around. Quen is a historian/archaeologist who studies old cultures and their way of living. Once he noticed Fynn’s interest, he teached him to read and later write. It became quite a surprise when Fynn one day started to infuse some runes in a book with his developing magic, and consequently turning the office a blue tinge for a few hours, that Quen had to start to monitor what books he gave Fynn to read. The discovery of Fynn’s magical abilities didn’t fully surprised Quen as his sister, Fynn’s mother, had been quite a decent healer.

At around 10 years old they left the village to travel the lands and visit other places and cities. This had a couple reasons: Quen wanted to finally live out the practical part of his vocation as he had to care for Fynn all those years ago. Now that Fynn was a bit older, he saw it fit to go and take the boy with him. Fynn on the other hand was eager to learn more about his magic. He was still sad to leave his friends behind but the thrill of an actual adventure was greater.

And Fynn was actual very lucky because the first place Quen went with him was a temple where normal people and magicians lived together and teached others. Here Quen started his own learning when he was young, so he was elated to see some of his old teachers again.

One of the magicians, Dimi, that lived there was one that created golems. Fynn stuck to him like glue and learned everything he could. Only roughly 2 weeks after Dimi’s teachings, Fynn created his first golem “Pebble”.

They continued traveling for the next years before they finally settled in Vesuvia in Fynn’s late teenage years. There, Fynn met Asra.

Day 4 - A man in love

Yeah, definetly turning into a writer now. I even wrote dialogue today xD This is the first meeting of Fynn and Asra. I also wanted to write the “Falling in love” part but let’s just say, that it happened over time but Fynn was secretly smitten from the first day ;)     @gentapprentices

Meeting at the masquerade

The night of the masquerade was cool but not overly. Fynn was looking left and right so fast at the colorful displays that his neck started to hurt. In their years traveling he heard a lot of the famous festivity of Vesuvia but to attend one and live it…that was even better.

He went to one booth and got himself a snack to eat. Halfway to the castle a realization struck him: He did not in fact have a mask!

“Who goes to a masquerade without a mask?” he crumbled angrily to himself and looked around for vendors that sold some. Still annoyed with himself he went around a pillar when he crashed into another person that was coming his way. With a muffled groan Fynn and the other went down.

Fynn opened his golden eyes that he closed while falling and his gaze met purple. “What a nice color…like a dark lilac flower...” he thought. His thoughts came to a screeching halt.

Before Fynn could say, think or do anything else, the person in front of him was up on his feet and extended a hand to him.

“Oh, hey sorry. I was not looking where I was going. Or how fast I was going.”

Fynn took the hand and let the other help him up. “Ahm ehh, no worries. Apology accepted. No harm done.”

Fynn took a proper look at the others appearance. He had white, curly hair that fell around his purple eyes. A nice smile on his face. His clothing was light, he wore a fine scarf over a white shirt. He had a bag slung around his shoulder. Around his neck hung a fox mask, that reminded Fynn of his familiar.

“Nice mask you have there.”

“Thanks, I made it myself.”

“You did? Wow, it looks good. Oh hey, I have a problem. I… eh, forgot to bring a mask.”

“You forgot to bring a mask to a masquerade? the other laughed.

“Yeah, not my smartest move. I was just so amazed at all the decoration, I forgot. Do you know, where I could get one?”, Fynn asked.

“I can give you one. I made a couple because I couldn’t decide which one, I wanted but then I went with the fox. I have an owl, a swan and a wolf. Which one do you want?”

“Oh, eeh..., you sure?” The other nodded enthusiastically. “The wolf one then.” Fynn got the mask while the other masks where stored back in the bag.

“Do you want something for that? I have some coins.”

“Oh no, keep it. It’s a gift. I like to give stuff away and help others. Oh, I’m Asra by the way”

“My name is Fynn. Oh hey, did you attend one before? A masquerade I mean. There is so much to see so I want to see the best things first obviously.”

“Yeah, I did in fact. I lived in Vesuvia all my life. You’re new?”

“I came here with my uncle and brother a couple months ago.”

“Hm, I was looking to buy something for a friend, but I could show you around if you want?”

“Really? Sure, I would love that”

Asra and Fynn spend the rest of the night exploring the booths and the display of the palace. Asra talked about all the places he and his friend ‘Muriel’ liked to go to while Fynn told him about his travelling and experiences.

“What, you’re a magician as well? What can you do?”

“Oh, a couple of things. I’m not overly good with the elements but I have specialized in golem creation. I have a couple golems at…eh...a different place. But I can summon them to wherever I need them.”

“That’s so cool. Who needs elements? Can you show me one?”

“Sure!” Fynn went with Asra to a more secluded corner and proceeded to call ‘Pebble’.

Asra was delighted. “Wow, awesome! That’s a cute one.”

“His name is Pebble.”

“Do you have more?”

“Yes, a few. But here is not really the right place, I think.”

“Yeah, I can see that. I tell you what. Let’s meet again the next few days, then we can show each other our magic.”

“Oh, you need to go Asra?”, Fynn asked a bit sad.

“Yeah, Muriel get’s worried easily. Do you know the marketplace? Let’s meet at the fountain tomorrow.”

“Oh, alright. Let’s do that. Thanks for showing me around.” Fynn smiled and waved after Asra as he merged with the crowd.

Day 7 - Dear husband

Ooops, almost forgot Day 7 xD (*chough* already Sunday here *cough*) @gentapprentices​

After the whole “Almost-plague-again"-fiasko Fynn and Asra spend the first few months in Vesuvia to recover from everything and spend time with their friends and family. Especially Asra had a lot of catching up to do. Fynn stayed in the background for a bit but Asra quickly put an end to that. (”What, you think when I have my parents back you’d had to leave out?”). So yeah, “Meeting the parents” (properly) was quite exiting.

The months after that, Fynn and Asra went for a little travel toghether with Nadia to visit Pakra. Portia was with them, so naturally Julian followed. And with him Kamael. The impromto engagement between Julian and Kamael surprised few, the one between Fynn and Asra even fewer people.

The honeymoon...travelling and relaxing of course. But in the end, they always ended up in Vesuvia.

Day 3 - For the boys

I guess I’m turning into a writer now xD Even though it is more a description than an actual story again. @gentapprentices

Fynn never had many friends simply because he and Quen where traveling so much. “And to make a friend, you have to spend time with them”, Fynn thought. But he still had and has some good and deep friendships to talk about.

The twins

Fynn doesn’t remember a lot of his friends from the village but one pair he met again in Vesuvia of all places. “The Twins” Noah and Elaine are a couple months older than Fynn. So it was only natural for them to stick together. They had been quite sad when Fynn left all those years ago. But then they moved to the big city, because their father’s skill in building was needed in Vesuvia and they moved. Now they, Fynn, Asra & the twins, spend their time often at the market or laying around lazily in the fields next to the city.

The mentor

Another friendship that was mostly dominated by pure adoration and respect was to his mentor Dimi, who teached him about the craft of golem creation. He was a tall and broad man, more build and looking like a lumberer than someone who often created delicate things. But he was a gently giant and quite interested in teaching this little weird white haired child that was marveling over his golem assistant “Vea”. He asked the boy if he was interested to learn and couldn’t really finish the sentence before Fynn said “YES!”.

The brother

But a major friendship for Fynn started quite suddenly but developed over time and would become as close to him as the relationship to his uncle: The friendship to his adopted brother Kamael.

Fynn would like to think that all the things he experienced, learned and saw when he was traveling with Quen had been nice and peaceful. But the world is cruel and mean sometimes.

The catastrophe started in the morning. Fynn, 13, had left the house they where staying at and went to the marked to buy their breakfast. But he wouldn’t make it there as on the way, a group of people went to grab and abduct him. He ended up at a damp cave like place where other boys like him where hard at work mining coal and other minerals. He was much to confused and scared at first to really react, confused on how people could be treating others like this. He spend roughly three weeks there but this time still is traumatizing to think about.

One of the other boys there was Kamael. He was 17 and had fiery red hair. He was the protector of the younger ones. On the day of the rescue Kamael got beaten down by their guards. This scared Fynn, who saw him as only big and strong and he remembered in his first time there that he was a magician. The anger and fear he felt manifested in an emotional magical burst and he managed to create a big golem out of the stones, the mineral and the gems that where dug up. This golem looked like giant ape and it managed to overthrow the guards. In the end all the boys could flee and ended up save with their families.

Kamael stayed with Fynn, impressed by his little savior. As he didn’t have any family left, Quen gave him the option to stay, which he happily took. In Vesuvia he now works as a carpenter. He lives in a little place together with Quen and is frequently visited by Fynn and Asra. Pre-Game, Kamael helps with designing the channels.

Some days are harder than others, And just staying alive Is more than enough. Sometimes i miss the Taste of your skin And of your lips Sometimes i miss it So much I think i may just stop. Trying. Living. Surviving. And then i remember, I cannot I will not And so i continue to survive.
