The Man-portable air defence system, (MANPAD), is fired by the soldier and shoots towards the missile in the distance. Soldiers can be heard cheering as it makes contact with its target in the sky. The shot has been described as 'hard to pull off' in online discussion.

TL;DR, power to the people. Individual, civilian, dare I say guerrilla development of defensive tools against a multi-trillion dollar global military industrial complex's most expensive and powerful weapons - missiles.

Yes, it could be used offensively. But this release doesn't make safer, cheaper, or easier the development and production of materials capable of being used offensively, to use less-explosive language, if you catch my censorious drift.

What an incredible thing. The idea that people with 3D printers (which are a tool wherein one can beget many) and a crate of shockingly cheap electronics could defend against the greatest militaristic technologies of the twenty first century is fucking amazing.
