Manthara had a pet cat. This cat disliked Rama. Thus Manthara plotted to have Rama disowned.

Kaikeyi had a pet cat. It loved Rama. When it died she lost it and went along with Manthara's plot to have Rama disowned.

Sita wanted a pet cat. She said as much to Rama. Rama went to get her one, but it escaped his affectionate arms and ate a plastic cap and bit ten members of the royal family.

Rama loves cats. He loves more all the people who do not have pet cats.

Women in Mahabharata - Manthara (Ramopakhyana)

She is introduced as the reincarnation of a gandharva woman called Dundubhi. She is sent to earth by Brahma for the sole purpose of wreaking as much havoc as possible in Rama's life.

She is an attendant of Dasharatha's youngest queen Kaikeyi and when Dasharatha announces Rama's coronation, she scolds Kaikeyi for ignoring her and her son's interests and encourages her to coerce the king into making Bharat the king instead of the eldest Rama.

There’s a scene in Doordashan Ramayana where Kaikeyi is excited to hear some news about Rama -- either his marriage to Sita or his upcoming coronation, I don’t remember which. She’s so excited that she runs out of her rooms before she’s fully dressed to tell the good news to Manthara, who scolds her for running around with her hair not yet done and uncovered, and fondly says something like “ever since you were a child, you always ran around like this with your hair undone”.
