After what felt like ages, the engineer finally made it ‘home’. Or well, what they deemed to be her home. The door to her room creaked open as she stepped inside, unsure of what she would find.
It was just a room, nothing more.
Wattson sighed as she slumped into the side of the bed, slowly sliding down to the floor. Her heart sunk, as she clasped her hands together behind her head, facing the ground. It was silent here; perhaps her housemates weren’t home. Normally a blessing to her, this silence was a curse, weighing heavily on her shoulders.
The very thought made her shudder. No one... no one was here to find her again, as they had done the last time she was surrounded in eerie silence. As if on cue, a roar of thunder broke the silence, followed by rain. She couldn’t explain to herself why, but at that moment, the engineer felt a need to step out.
The rain gave the area a glow that set Wattson at ease. Intermittent flashes of light in the sky... at least one thing was familiar. Looking back from the sky, she spotted something, sheltering from the rain under a bench. Oh... that won’t do.
Wattson walked over, with a skip her step, over to the fluffy, black cat. She slipped off her jacket, urging the cat to come to her.
“You must be cold, oui? Come; I’ll keep you warm.”
