알츠하이머 PET 추적자 THK5351 정체알츠하이머 PET 추적자 THK5351은 처음에는 뇌에 쌓이는 타우 단백질을 보여주는 물질로 알려졌습니다. 하지만 연세대학교와 기초과학연구원 공동 연구진이 분자, 뇌 조직, 동물, 환자 영상을 차례로 검증한 결과, 실제 신호의 중심은 타우보다 반응성 성상세포에 많은 MAO-B 효소에 가까웠습니다. 이 발견은 단순히 추적자 이름표를 바꾸는 일이 아닙니다. 과거 영상을 어떻게 다시 읽어야 하는지, 뇌 염증을 어느 시점에 포착할 수 있는지, 치매 치료제의 효과를 무엇으로 확인할지까지 연결되는 문제입니다. 다만 이번 결과가 곧바로 새로운 치매 확진법이 완성됐다는 뜻은 아니므로, 연구 성과와 현재 임상 적용 범위를 구분해 보셔야 합니다. 논문 확인하기 알츠하이머 PET..

Moab Trail: Steel Bender

Just from its name, the trail Steel Bender gives you a good idea of what you can expect the trail to be like. It is a difficult trail that lies between Moab and the La Sal Mountains in the vicinity of Mill Creek, a major drainage from the mountains. The trail crosses the creek a few times and travels a lovely part of Mill Creek Canyon. 

Portions of the trail are in two beautiful, but different-looking, parts of Mill Creek Canyon. Other portions ride the higher country toward the mountains and overlook canyonlands vistas toward the west from a 6,000-foot elevation (RR4W). In my opinion, this is where you will get one of THE best views that Moab has to offer! 

This trail covers a total of 14.9 miles, and can often be an all-day trail. It is a very difficult trail, with some obstacles not having a bypass. Only vehicles with high clearance and experienced drivers should attempt this trail. If you are able to make it through the countless tall ledges and steam crossings, you will be rewarded with one of Moab’s greatest views! Hope to see you there!

day fifteen

my alarm goes off at 7:45 am.... huh... what ...whats going on... oh yeah... i remember... i have to be ready to go by 8:45 in front of the rv park for the river rafting bus to pick me up...i needed to leave wolf at the rv park at home with the  ac turned on  which meant i could not drive to the take off point where all the other river rafters were to meet.  it was very cool of them to drive by and pick me up.  im sure wolf sweet talked them into it... him and those baby blues... i was ready and waiting for them... there were two full buses of river revelers... i was on the second bus... as i stepped into the bus i was called into the back... i walked through the full isles and found a seat amongst a noisy group of 5 others... they welcomed me to the wild side of the bus... although i was barely coherent i had the sense that if an f bomb made its way out of my mouth all would be a ok... i relaxed into my my seat. there was a guy who introduced himself as richard... he was talking the most... i wasnt quite sure  what he was talking about ... it was a lexicon i was not familiar with... something about cataract and eddies and gradients... besides i was not going to be awake for at least another 3 hours... for all i know i was dreaming this...the other 4 people i was sitting with  were maob locals... woody, twee, erin and lucinda... they were laughing about how much fun they had last nite closing down the bars and then dennys... woody had a headband on and some pretty cool tats... erin and woody were brothers... lucinda was married to erin... twee to woody... they decided to take me under their wings... i like them... they were funny, crazy and wild... i felt right at home. we arrive at our take off point.. the guides get out of the bus, point out the porta potties and tell us to stand under the shade trees until they call us to get on the boats.  my group is talking non stop about how they wished theyd brought some beer.... doing some new math in my head i calculated that it had been about 5 hours since they had last had a beer...maybe they just wanted to keep the buzz going...who am i to judge.  they were a fun group... after all none of us would be driving. as we waited for canyon adventures to set up the rafts we hit the little girls room...nasty is what ill say about that... after doing what needed to be done i left the 2 girls to do their thing and hightailed it out of there...i met up with woody... while we were waiting i asked him what he did in moab... he laughed a little bit and said well my brother and i are in civil services... i said cool... what does that mean exactly in moab... he says well your not gonna believe this but we are police officers...  our group stayed together the whole day.... it was a relaxing ride down the colorado river... nothing like the kevin bacon movie about river rafting...although the guide richard said for sure he could take me on one...i never seemed to be able to wake up from my early am wake up call... i found myself dozing off a time or two...i think richard found this a bit annoying... he was a very good guide... he pointed out some more rock formations although at this point i really had my fill with rocks... he did talk about a flag that was put up in honor of this dog named blender... he told us the story... i couldnt help but think about wolf... i sure hope wolf was ok in the rv all day... i was ready to get home, jump in the pool and pop open an ice cold coors light.    the policemen and their wifes had promised to show me the town but i realized they were just too crazy for me... go figure. todays "must have" fun fact...Speaking of what makes this area so special, top honor for most cherished celebrity in Moab would have to go to Blender, the Colorado River dog. Blender lived on the banks of the Colorado River and spent his time watching for rafts coming down the river. He would sneak through the tamarisk and willows and swim down the river, feigning an injury. Tourists would exclaim to the raft guides that they must save the “poor dog.” After a few minutes of tricky manuevering, amidst many cheers Blender would be pulled from the river, and consoled with a free lunch of roast beef sandwiches. Some of you may be wondering: how did Blender get home after his 13-mile raft trip? He had that figured out as well – he’d hitchhike of course.
