There are 9 games in the Legend of Zelda series where you play in the place most people would think of when you say the name “Hyrule”. I won’t count FS and WW because there’s not much to go on, honestly. Plus ALBW Hyrule is pretty much the same as ALttP Hyrule, so I really only work with 8: LoZ, AoL, ALttP, OoT, FSA, TMC, TP, and SS. FSA is also similar to ALttP’s map, but there are enough differences that I’d like to think of what happened between the two timelines to make those differences. Now I’ve mentioned map theories here before, but never shared any images of my own maps. The main reason for that being, they’re always sloppy beyond recognition, sadly. But I went and made a proper one (it’ll do, anyway), and even labeled a few areas. Now... I’m not gonna go into everything today. I’m just here to talk about the Malon Wind Tribe thing. Figured it’s been long enough since I made that random post without elaboration. XD
A. Sealed Grounds/Sealed Temple - SS Hyrule Castle area/Sealed Temple (not shown in-game) - TMC Hyrule Castle area/Temple of Time - OoT Sacred Grove/ToT - TP / Lost Woods/Master Sword grove - ALttP Wooded mountain area North of the giant graveyard - LoZ
B. ...East part of the Faron Woods I guess? Maybe even Lake Floria - SS West part of the Lost Woods - OoT ...Not on the map - TP / Hyrule Castle area - ALttP (oof) Western half of the two-square lake (Lizard labyrinth) - LoZ
C. Not on the map - SS Wind Ruins - TMC Lon Lon Ranch area - OoT Ordon Ranch (overlapped on East side) - TP / Kakariko (overlapped on West side) - ALttP Giant graveyard - LoZ
So, yeah, that’s pretty much the result of my almost-entire-life’s worth of theorizing over Hyrulean geography. Enjoy. I might make the rest of the key later but I think a lot of it might speak for itself or at least be easy to put the pieces together. Anyway, back to Malon.
So yeah, I believe not only Lon Lon Ranch, but Kakariko (ALttP), specifically the big weathervane that the Flute Boy’s bird broke out of, were built where the Wind Ruins used to be. Why? Honestly I have no idea, maybe the Hylians and the Wind Tribe lost touch with each other and since the Wind Tribe no longer lived there, the Hylians were like “Well... They ain’t using it!” Maybe a natural disaster struck and the ruins weren’t really... there. Anymore. Maybe the giant wall jutting out of Hyrule Field in OoT that I’ve ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW WTF IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE??? is part of what was left over. Who knows? Moving on!
What if the Lon family, part of the Wind Tribe who stayed behind when the rest of their people were moving to the Cloud Tops, saw an opportunity and was like “This is my land now, I’m moving my ranch btw, kthxbai~”? ‘Cause if you remember, the first Lon Lon Ranch (that we know of, but probably the first one, yeah) was just East of Hyrule Town, North of some tiny puddle they had then called Lake Hylia (before they saw what a real lake looked like and were like IT’S SO MUCH WATER!, I’m guessing. People who’ve been living in the sky for centuries have to be blown away by the simplest things on the surface, there’s no way they wouldn’t be). It could’ve been destroyed between TMC and OoT what with all the stupid wars going on because of stupid people being stupid, but regardless of whether it did, they definitely moved it from a little shack in a field, to inside a massive stone wall that’s obviously been there for a while. Which could definitely be the Wind Ruins. I’m just saying.
As for the connection to ALttP Kakariko, this might sound like a reach, but what if the Ocarina of Winds is the same ocarina the Flute Boy used to play in ALttP? His pet bird breaks out of a weathercock? A small birb with the strength to pick up a person and fly them across the country?? Just like Zeffa, the blue bird you could summon with the Ocarina of Winds? Which you get in the Fortress of Winds, located within the Wind Ruins??? Sounds like it matches up, personally. I... still don’t know why a living bird was inside a weathervane, but let’s stick to the matter at hand for now.
Maybe the Flute Boy was descended from the Wind Tribe as well. Maybe that flute is an heirloom that’s been in his family for ages. Maybe he’s even Malon’s great-great-great-however-many-greats-grandson? Hm... a kid who wears all green... plays an ocarina in a forest grove... able to attract or call animals with his music... Where have I seen all these things before...?
I think that’s about it. Granted, a lot of this hypothesis is dependent on my map theory, which rests a lot on the Temple of Time NOT moving throughout the years, aka the resting place of the Master Sword not changing, and if you don’t agree with that concept, that’s fine, but I hope I’ve at least entertained you with my ideas. I’m... not gonna say Malon’s red hair proves she could be connected to the Wind Tribe, because... hair color doesn’t prove anything. And it’s the same excuse used by people who go around saying she’s half-Gerudo for some damn reason. Personally, I like my idea better, but it is what it is.
Thanks so much for reading, maybe give me a like or a reblog if you like my ideas, and feel free to scroll through my other posts if you want to see more ideas or just me talking, though it’s mostly reactions to games as I play them, but yeah, should be a good time either way. PACE~
