The Other Thing for the fic asks!! Because I’m obsessed with it, obviously

Oh, are you?  Hadn’t noticed ;)

1) The fic was inspired by the characters of Argel Tal and Raum from the Horus Heresy series; the notion of a friendly, almost symbiotic daemonic possession stuck with me and The Other Thing is basically my spin on it.

2) For all that it seems obvious now, I didn’t actually decide that the other thing was the demogorgon until comparatively late in the game (read: the tail end of the daydreaming/brainstorming session that turned into the outline of the introductory plot arc)

3) El is in complete control of her body, and can only be influenced or changed by the other thing to the degree that she allows it.  I decided early on that El’s will takes precedence as the ‘native’ inhabitant of her body.  (Of course, the other thing can talk all it wants, much to her constant annoyance.)

4) The part in Chapter 2 where they play D&D together was one of the least fleshed out parts of my initial outline, which is why it took me by surprise when it ballooned into ~5k words of a ~7k word chapter.

5) The reason Hopper warms so quickly to Mike in the aftermath of the attack on the school is because he notices that Mike is more concerned about El’s wellbeing than anything else.  This was explicitly spelled out in my notes, but since the fic’s from El’s POV it didn’t get stated outright.

I would have to say Season 2. Season 1 is always amazing, but 2 really had me hooked. I also really enjoy the character arcs, the characters in general, the relationships, the Mileven reunion... that shit simply slapped!!
