Another Maquis settlement needs your help, I'll mark it on your map
I would appreciate the information update ASAP, friend. Never fear, I’ll mobilise the troops and get right on correcting the issues.

According to your experience, do people who speak the federational Standart tend to stick to it and not learn other languages but rather expect other races to learn Standart too? Is the situation with it different among the Maquis (who may be more inclusive I guess??) and within the Federation?
Most people in the Federation tend to be at least bi-lingual. They will obviously speak Federation Standard as its a necessity for daily life, but they may speak their planets native language; such as speaking Bolian because you were born on Bolarus IX.
If you're someone who enjoys languages or who has traveled and lived in a number of places, the number of languages you speak will likely be a good deal more. A number of people working in industries such as freighting or trade also speak a number of non-Federation languages such as Rihanha (Romulan) or Klingonese.
Being as multicultural as the Maquis is we have a tendency to use Federation standard as our first language, but a number of us speak a few other languages too. If you're in the Maquis it really does help to be at least a little proficient in Kardassi, especially if you want to intercept transmissions from the Central Command.
Have any Cardassians defected to the Maquis?
Actually a number of Cardassians have defected to the Maquis. From Obsidian Order agents that were originally surgically altered to appear as Federation species. To Central Command officers that find their orders to harm unarmed civilians to be abhorrent. And even Cardassian colonists who want to coexist with the Federation colonist and form a cooperative.
I have known a few of them in passing, although to date none have been a part of my cell. But that's not to say they wouldn't be welcomed.
What's the best thing about being a Maquis, apart from fighting for a great cause?
The communal atmosphere and the strong sense of comradery. There's a real sense of belonging in the Maquis; everyone is welcome regardless of your past.
Oh and then there's the Maquis culture, which won't make a lot of sense to anyone who hasn't lived out in the DMZ. It's like a collective of in-jokes and multicultural meldings.
Swing by Solosos III, you'll see what I mean.
Are there Joined Trill in the Maquis?
Indeed there are. I couldn't give you an exacting figure for exactly how many have joined us, but I know of at least one Maquis smuggler and one fully fledged resistance fighter. (The former being Betani Rol and the latter being Rylon Tem).
