Georges de La Tour was born in 1593. He painted mostly religious chiaroscuro scenes lit by candlelight in an impressive dreamy, meditative and poetic way. I love his artworks.. soooo beautiful.

William Herschel discovered Uranus in 1781. 188 years later Apollo 9 returned safely to Earth after testing the Lunar Module in 1969. And in 1988 the Seikan Tunnel, the longest undersea tunnel in the world, was opened between the islands of Honshu and Hokkaido, Japan.

I felt sad in 1996, when exceptionial and unique director and screenwriter Krzysztof Kieślowski died. His ambitious final films, especially the trilogy Three Colors (Blue, White, Red) touched me deeply. 

While in Calcutta, Missionaries of Charity have chosen Sister Nirmala to succeed Mother Teresa as its leader, on the same day in 1997, the Phoenix Lights have been seen over Phoenix, Arizona by hundreds of people, and by millions on TV... which means, we are not alone.

What else? Hhmmm, in 2013, Pope Francis was elected in the papal conclave as the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church. I think he’s funny.
