got mauled in the face by a dog at work today BUT my jordan shirt came today and im so excited to cosplay them!!!! i could go off abt how much their character means to me in terms of representation for hrs buuut ill save that for another time

i don’t think white cosplayers/people can ever truly grasp just how important representation is

i rarely saw anyone that looked like me growing up. that’s why when i do see someone, i hold that character close to me. i quit cosplaying for 2 years bc i didnt look like or fit in the skinny white cosplayer model/default. it was so discouraging and so beyond damaging to my self esteem. now that i’m an adult it has gotten easier with time however id be lying if i said it doesn’t affect me still

if you’re white and thinking about cosplaying an asian or latino/hispanic character, maybe rethink your choice. im not saying you’re never allowed to cosplay them. but know that these characters mean more than you could ever know to the people they represent
