Well, awards are bullshit, aren't they? At least the big ones... it's never about an actor's skills but always about maximal profit...
Precisely. Yet, despite this, they carry weight, which means bullshit max-profit tripe gets made, because the right backhanders have been given, the right circles, whereas stuff relying on good writing and good acting but without the commercial side get knocked out of the spotlight.
I mean I hate the twee attitude of the Oscars with the big shows and entertainment, all saying how wonderful one another are...but the moment they’re not bringing in the big money, they’re dropped like a hot brick.
It’s the hypocrisy of that world which I hate more than anything, I think.
Writing Prompts - 14 (and you know, who should be included in this ;-))
Thanks for the ask, buddy! This little snippet will be showing up in the next chapter :)
He wakes up nearly an hour before the alarm clock is set to go off. It is still pitch black outside and peering up through the skylight, his half-asleep eyes can just make out the faintest outline of the tree branches as they softly sway on the light breeze overhead.
The first half of their Thanksgiving travels will be coming to an end soon. In just a few more hours, they’ll be leaving the almost magical world of Bainbridge Island, and there’s a bittersweet quality to the thought of saying goodbye to his loved ones after such a wonderful visit. But there’s also an excited energy flowing through him, and he’s greatly looking forward to taking his gorgeous girlfriend on a transcontinental flight to one of his favorite cities in the world.
He lets out a slow exhale, and her long eyelashes flutter against his skin as she begins to stir. “What time is it?” she murmurs against his chest.
“It’s four a.m. It’s early. We’ve still got some time. Go back to sleep,” he whispers to her with a playful tap on her nose.
She gives him a sleepy smile and he cuddles her a little closer when she nuzzles and kisses his neck. Placing a soft kiss on her forehead, he drifts in and out of sleep until it’s time to begin making their way downstairs.
His mother has already prepared a quick breakfast for them, and Brian is pleasantly surprised as every member of his family gradually makes their way down the stairs, sleepily shuffling into the kitchen to spend a few more minutes with him and Margaret before they have to leave for the airport. He knows that everyone’s exhausted after such a jam-packed holiday weekend, and while they’ll most likely head straight back to bed afterwards, it warms his heart to see the way his family have all come together to show how much they love and care for not only for him, but for Margaret as well.
How did I ever get so lucky? he can only wonder as he watches his adorable little grandnieces and grandnephews showering Margaret with their peals of laughter and big bear hugs and warm goodbye kisses. He leans back against the kitchen counter, and the combination of freshly brewed Ethiopian coffee and the beautiful sight before him warms his entire body from head to toe. A smile slowly spreads across his face, and when his and Margaret’s eyes find each other’s across the crowded room—some things never change—the unmistakable affection in her beautiful blue eyes and in her relaxed smile tells him that she’s asking herself the same thing.
Aww, dear, hello, and thank you for asking me this!
I actually jotted these down in my notebook for some self-reflection even before you asked, so I'll just grab those answers and share them here.
♐️ sagittarius ⇢ what places would you like to travel in the future?
northern ireland: well, it's because there's THAT PUB I'd like to visit and have a drink there. *winks*
ireland: the brennans, the clannad band and leo's tavern are the answer.
england: well, kinda wanna visit margaret beaufort's tomb a bit and see michelle performing in a stage play with my own eyes.
hong kong: guess, i still have soft spot left for old hong kong tv dramas especially for sheren tang's rosy business 1 and 2 (recommended).
taiwan and japan: for food tasting.
5️⃣ 5H ⇢ do you have a hobby? which one(s)?
same as i've always been: watching tv shows, stanning actors and otps (ned x cat still with me, but it's mostly roslin x adama to me now), reading fanfic and some books, and, if you count, taking online courses to upskill myself, collecting certificates like pokemons, thanks to capitalism and the exploitation of workers 😭😭
Thanks, friend! It’s such an innovative and ridiculously good-looking theatre, isn’t it? I still can’t believe my outrageous good luck to have spent so many happy hours with you and @funnypic23 there last month. I want to go back!

Oh no, this doesn't sound nearly as good as I imagined. I hoped for some more scenes with her family. Maybe there'll be some more scenes with her in the last few episodes?
I’m up to the final episode and Dennis has triple the amount of scenes with his ex than with his wife, and his scenes with Frey are minimal and often brief and often lazily written. Even when she’s in her last moments, he shouts at her, leaves her upset (because they want to show he’s too emotional but it just comes off clichéd) and leaves her alone, she even dies alone.
