Fixing Regulus’s “death” as J.K said it
no one trust that woman she’s always wrong
(Me and @starving-marauder-lover found out the truth recently)
It was a rainy night in hogwarts, and of course something was up, it was obvious, it was quiet, a bit too quiet, the professors couldn’t figure out what was wrong. After all, only the students would know what chaos is stirring beneath the professors oblivious gaze, it was simple really, a match of hide’n’seek was going on throughout the school, all the houses against each other, they were taking turns on who was it for the match, and at this moment, it was the Gryffindors time to search for the other houses. They had managed to snag a few Ravenclaws, a couple Hufflepuffs and plenty of Slytherins on their time searching, well, it was the entire house of Gryffindor searching vs the other 3 houses. Some people had gotten off Hogwarts campus.
One of the many was people who left school grounds was Regulus Black, he had conjured a plan, he’d sneak out of school with the help of his family house elf, Kreacher. He didn’t know exactly where they’d appear but Regulus only told Kreacher to show up near water because Regulus did in fact love swimming, really he was an amazing swimmer. Naturally, he’d want to go somewhere where he’d be able to swim while still hiding from the entirety of Gryffindor house.
He and Kreacher stood on the small bit of land in the large body of water, he slightly started to regret the idea but he couldn’t turn back, he refused to lose this game, after all, if he died, he’d at leave die winning. He scanned the water, there was nothing there, just a empty river, it looked quite pretty in his opinion. There was a goblet there with some strange water in it, but Regulus wasn’t stupid, he had some brain cells left in his brain so he decided against going near it. So, he sat by the edge of the land waiting feeling quite bored for having to wait for something to happen or somehow a Gryffindor to show up and find him in the good hidden cave.
Kreacher had stayed to entertain Regulus, even if Kreacher was forced to work for his family, he decided to be at least nice since Regulus shared his huge secret in where he’s hiding for the game. Kreacher tried to dance, which failed horribly because after he danced he fell face first into the river, at least it draw a snigger from Regulus who had originally seemed a bit bored. But that bit of entertainment faded quickly as Regulus got bored again while a small frown forced it’s way onto Kreachers face.
After a few hours, Regulus distracted himself by swimming, he was pretty darn good at it to be frank, he was extremely great at diving as well. He had found a few pretty rocks at the bottom of the lake although it took longer to reach since he had to keep coming up for air but eventually he reached the bottom quickly enough a few tries. Now, he was sitting on the small island of land in the body of water, he was soaking wet from swimming, Kreacher had left back to Black family manor after Walburga Walmart Burger summoned him for a task to complete for her. Regulus waited and waited and waited until a few hours had passed, he had brought along his magic pocket mirror so he could get updated from his friends, a few of them talked to him for a bit, the Gryffindors hadn’t found everyone yet but they found a few more students but not many.
After hours Regulus grew bored of waiting, alone so he decided to summon Kreacher again to talk to him or for some kind of form of entertainment while he waited for the game to be over. He had talked to Kreacher about school and a bit about his friends and what their like which distracted him from the boredness he felt inside. Kreacher did help a bit, even if all he did was agree with everything Regulus said so there wasn’t many ways to start a mini banter argument with him so it did bore Regulus a bit but it was better then being alone with a guy in a pink inflatable unicorn costume (terrifying).
A few days later the game hadn’t ended, the teachers were still oblivious to the game and why several students hadn’t been seen in days, one of the missing students including Regulus, no one was very sure where he was but somehow he still got his assignments turned in, most likely a friend of his told him through the socializer mirror. The top reason he wanted to stay in because apparently, James potter, the Gryffindor boy on the Quidditch team, was freaking out every second the Gryffindor house didn’t find anymore people, James panic fed into Regulus’ amusement so he had more reason to stay missing.
After a while, Kreacher had proposed the idea Regulus should leave the cave and retreat but Regulus dismissed this immediately with a simple no, Kreacher couldn’t really persuade Regulus due to his status as a house elf who’s supposed to obey and listen to the family who was in charge of them, so it was immediately an idea that was left behind, for the worse because after weeks, Regulus still refused to leave the cave in order to win the game which indeed was still somehow going on (don’t question it).
Now, many years had passed since the game started, Regulus never came back and he stopped contacting his friends, he became friend silent the fish in the pond, he was able to speak fish at this point, Kreacher was convinced Regulus must’ve been high or something to attempt to learn the language a dam fish speaks. No one was really sure where Regulus had went, he was presumed dead but he was kind a bit happier in his cave without all the annoying stuff and people.
Now I’m too lazy to continue figure something out yourself 🫵
My reaction to the canon version of Regulus’ ‘death’ (he didn’t really die obliviously):
