I've typed this title so many times now that I'm wondering how else to name it.. should I add some titles that kinda sum up what happened?

Shellwick - year 1, spring (22-8-25)

I've been trying out which platform worked better for me and decided insta worked better, and thus have been neglecting tumblr. The shame, I know. However I just saw that two people liked my entries. I am a sucker for people enjoying my gameplay. So I'll give tumblr another go :)

I have made some progress since the last time I posted here, so here we go!

Meet Molly Shellwick

Traits: shady, outdoor enthousiast and animal lover. Aspiration: neighborhood confidant. Home: Willow Creek, a tiny barn.

Backstory:

Ever since her birth Molly is special. She's born a faun, half sim half animal. In Bestia, the world she's from, that means you're a chosen one: a link between the world of sims and the world of animals. Most chosen ones become priests, a very respected way of life in Bestia.

Molly grows up as a farmer's daughter. Her presence makes that all kinds of animals visit the farm regularly. They have a happy, but not very rich life, which means her parents can't afford a spot at priest school. That's a problem. Molly wants to become a high priest and won't back down to get what she wants. She comes up with a ruse. One day she saves a sack of kittens from drowining in a river. Many see it happening and she becomes a local hero. The people see she's a chosen one, so to thank her they give her a spot at priest school. Little do they know that the kittens wouldn't be anywhere near that crowded river without Molly. When her father finds out she's responsible for the near death of the very animals she ought to protect he's furious. "Go to that school, but don't expect a warm welcome home when you're done!" he yells. She doesn't understand. The kittens are fine and now she can go to redeem herself and protect animals forever. What's the big deal?!

She leaves home to attend school and graduates with the highest marks. But she can't go home. Luckily there's something big happening. New worlds have been discovered outside of Bestia and missionaries are needed to go there and spread the good word. Molly applies for a world called Simmia. She'll have the great task to influence and convert these 'savages' to respect their animal world. No worries, she's got this.

Personality

Very smart, patient, socially adaptable and charismatic

The goal is the most important priority, it means everything to her. The greater good justifies the means, even it that means putting aside one's convictions for a short time

The best way to convert someone is to educate

Animals are equals to sims, they deserve our respect

Make-over: BFFs

I was already thinking about this, but now I have done it. The BFFs are officially part of the Goth household as their staff. I love the irony of Summer Holiday, the most cheerful spirit of Willow Creek, cooking, cleaning and dressing the most gloomy sims of all time.

Despite the uniforms I think I managed to keep all of their spirits alive, I'm especially pleased with Summer's signature blue socks.

On the right you can see the side entrance that leads to the staff space and house-kitchen, which was inspired by the staff space of the Russell's from HBO's 'The gilded age', marvelous series that I can recommend to all!

Making adjustments to the Goth estate

I couldn't help but feeling like my Goth estate could be more grand, so I made some changes in wall height and roofing.

Another makeover: the Landgraabs

I really wanted the Landgraab's to contrast the Goth's. So I gave them lighter and brighter colors, while still having an old-money rich kind of look and feel. They're less eccentric than the Goth's and in my story they're not royalty, their old money comes from the landgrabbing business, so a business-look seemed more appriopriate. Don't tell them, though, because they obviously think that they are the rightful owners of the crown and throne.

Nancy still has her signature orange (yay), but without looking like she stepped right out of 2014 and Geoffrey still has that cozy, dopey feel, but this time I can take him seriously. Or at least as seriously as we can when a detective has no clue that his wife is a crimeboss.

Malcolm is very much the young dandy, living off of his parent's money like it grows on trees and not really caring with his suit undone (according to Nancy) and messy hair.

Johnny Zest got kicked out by his family (probably Nancy) when he decided he wanted to become a comedian, so he can basically do as he pleases now. I just think he'd never be able to shake off his fancy pansy rich-boy upbringing entirely. So I still made him look fancy, put together and expensive, but with a little expressive twist: brighter and more colorful than his relatives.

First makeover: the Goths

They're the royal family of my world, so they deserved some nice suits and dresses.

I also build them a castle with a basement for the staff, they have their own side entrance, a kitchen and windows (always a nice thing to have). I got inspired by 'the Gilded Age'

I'm thinking about making the 'Besties' their staff. Can you imagine Summer Holiday with her joyful and bright personality serving this gloomy bunch?

This took me way longer to build than I'd like to admit, and I had to drag myself to finish it, but it was worth it. Now I need a goth-break...
