Building my pinterest board: Count Olaf's Herring Houdini

I'm watching 'A series of unfortunate events' and this picture below reminded me by Count Olaf's house in season one a bit. Except this wonky grey house has a marvelous spot by the ocean. Which got me thinking....

Have you ever wondered what Count Olaf could've been if he never chased the Baudelaires? Instead of an evil actór with mentions in several small magazines, he could've pursued Harring Houdini and have his success written about in several larger magazines (which can be found all over the place btw). His wonky grey beach house could've been moved to the seaside. It would've been the ideal spot for a tiny restaurant. With fish and chips made by a man with hooks for hands and served by the famous Larry Your-waiter. Take that, Snicket. Not all stories have unfortunate endings.

Building my pinterest board: Fudge under the Sunroof

I've been collecting a whopping 559 pins on my sims pinterest board. Most of them are houses or building inspo, so why not build a couple. Part 3 of this series is here!

I usually don't build very modern houses, but I was wondering if I could pull this one off in the sims with the platforms and the skylight. While building I got very much inspired by the golden, caramel, fudge sundae color of the blonde wood, as 99% of the time I use either black or white for windows and doors. And who would've thought? I don't miss the black at all.

Building my pinterest board: Twinpine Ranch

I've been collecting a whopping 559 pins on my sims pinterest board. Most of them are houses or building inspo, so why not build a couple. So here's a new series: "building my pinterest board".

Second pin turned into a build is 'Twinpine Ranch'. I was inspired by this AI image. AI does some weird shit, but the challenge of turning that into something recognizable is a fun challenge. The garden was so much fun to make, even despite the game deleting the terrainpaint 4 times.

Building my pinterest board: Swedish House

I've been collecting a whopping 559 pins on my sims pinterest board. Most of them are houses or building inspo, so why not build a couple. So here's another new series: "building my pinterest board".

Starting with this amazing Swedish house which is so whimsical and reminds me of Pippi Longstocking. A lady called Hanna Östberg lives here and shares photos her life in this fairy tale home on her instagram.

Breed out the Habsburg: generation two

***Their story***

Joanna is wanted to be an author. Being the nerd that she is, she loves to write sci-fi. Obviously she need some inspiration and where better to find some than by building a rocket and flying off into space. At Sixam she meets several aliens, including Rosanne. They hit it off, go on a karaoke date and get married. They also start 'Sixam School' together where they teach about rocket science, sell space junk and offer people a place to stargaze.

Soon after they have science twins: Otto and Werner. Much later Isabella is added to the bunch, because how can you choose an heir between twins that look exactly alike?

The Habsburg pink hair is strong in these clones. The nose a little less so, it's completely gone. They end up looking exactly alike and almost exactly like their Habsburg mother.

Isabella takes after her alien mum. Not sure where she got her blue eyes, though.

Breed out the Habsburg: generation one

***Their story***

They meet at the fleamarket, where Marcus invites Ipie to join the partihaus club. They couldn’t keep their eyes off eachother at that first clubmeeting. Marcus being afraid of commitment wasn’t very keen on a relationship, but after he found out Ipie was pregant with his child, he didn't think twice to be a dad. Turns out he’s a great dad and partner.

They have two children: Joanna and Rudolph.

Joanna obviously has more Habsburg in her than her brother, even though both are missing the destinctive chin (cry.wav), she still got that awesome nose. Funny how two parents can create such an introvert, yet she does get her love for music from mum.

Rudolph takes more after his dad, being active and a generally good and social goofball. He lost his glasses for a while, but found them again as a teen. The game also gave him a cc prosthetic leg, which I think is very fitting for a Habsburg.

Challenge accepted: breed out the Habsburg

Because of some health issues I haven't been able to play the sims for a couple of months, but I'm back :) And I felt like starting a fun challenge.

This is my version of breed out the ugly: breed out the Habsburg. Inspired by an old European royal family that wanted to keep their bloodline pure and only married within the family. This resulted in people with a very distinctive chin and other ...stuff.

What can I say, this art teacher loves some weird art history :p

Meet Ipie Habsburg. She is fed up with being the result of the pure bloodline and moves to San Myshuno. Her life's purpose is to stop the Habsburg bloodline from existing once and for all. Her generation and the next ones have to produce at least two children each. The most Habsburg looking one of them is the heir for the next generation and so forth. The challenge ends when the Habsburg family produces normal looking sims. Obviously I am playing on short lifespan here and I will be abusing birthdaycakes.

Building a Spongebob themed neighbourhood (2) - the Treedome

I am loving this neighbourhood so far. Conch street turned out better than expected, so next up: Sandy's Treedome. It's just too bad that I couldn't build her house in the tree, but other than that I am not disappointed.

Obviously the dome is a roof, so the second set of doors aren't functional. Instead there is a ladder in the airlock. Through the basement (the apartment) you can reach a second ladder that surfaces between the shrubberies behind the tree.

In the show the dome has a tree, a picnic table and a hamster wheel. Unfortunately no huge hamster wheels, so I added the hamster itself instead. Some episodes also show Sandy growing her own food, so I gave her some planters. Sandy is very much into karate, so I gave her a punching bag.

For the interior I used a lot of Horse Ranch, because Sandy is a Texas cowgirl after all. She's also a researcher, so lots of books, a good sturdy desk and lots of pictures and trinkets to remind her of home.

Building a Spongebob themed neighbourhood - Conch Street

After building a cemetary, I wanted to do something a little more lighthearted. So why not a Spongebob themed neightbourhood. Here's Conch Street, where Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward live.

I especially had fun making their backyards and adding stuff that relates to several episodes.

Spongebob: I added a statue of Gary and flowers, as apparently he has well maintained flowerbeds.

Patrick: as we can see above, he has a bbq and trashcans. But I also remember the woodworking episode very well.

Squidward: the easle and his lounge chair. No clarinets, unfortunately...

Spongebob and Squidward have pretty similar houses from the inside with ladders going upstairs. Patrick's house is the biggest, as it's mostly underground.

I'm planning on making the Crusty Crab and Sandy's house too. I might try a general Bikini Bottom village and maybe the Chum Bucket as well. Not sure if the sims 4 offers enough metal and boat themed items for it, though... I also plan on making some sims based on (background) characters from Bikini Bottom :)

Building the Goth Cemetary

Every good forever world and lets-play needs a proper cemetary. As the ruling family, I thought it merely fitting that the Goth's have a graveyard right behind their estate.

Here we have the whole lot, with a little goth chapel and lots of room for graves. There are different sections and different kinds of graves. From small insignificant graves to tombs for the richer sims and even some family graves.

It's a bit hard to see, but every section of graves is overlooked by one of the chess pieces from Harry Potter, like guardians looking over the dead to protect them. Or do they protect us? who knows. I really do kinda love that.

It's soooo pretty at nighttime. I found some lovely genshin impact cc which contained these gorgeous glowing blue 'inazuma' flowers. They are perfect for this lot.

Then there is the chapel. It contains a little reading area where people can come to read about the family's history, I guess.

When you go up the stairs, you can get to the 'astronomy tower', which is where the telescope is. No graveyard is complete without a way to die there.

When you ascend to the basement, there are a couple of rooms. First of all there are the toilets, very important. Secondly, there's a room for pet urns. And thirdly a room with a coffin for vampires to come and chill or for adventurous sims to woohoo in.

I can't wait to put some actual sims in this graveyard. I believe spellcaster Emilia died already, maybe I can find her urn.

Creating NPCs + CAS challenge - Day 2-6

I am horrible at doing challenges everyday, I also couldn't care less as long as I have fun, so I merged a couple of them.

Family #1: His name is Aba Tutu. Fun fact: it's the name of a famous Dutch cat actor (insta). In hindsight this could also have been the color challenge, but accidental doesn't count. High society kind of guy. I can see him living in San Myshuno and throwing lots of bubble blower parties and zen happenings.

Family #2: the Browns. I have made so many single color sims in my life, but never brown. So I started with brown-lover mom, who loves horses. She owns a horse called Prince. Then added the bald dad, a country singer-song writer. The hat reminded me of Ryan Bingham's character from Yellowstone, so I took some inspiration from him. I imagine the couple got together at art school. Together they have a child who's really into horses as well and who is their parent's little princess, obviously.

Creating NPCs + CAS challenge - Day 1: simself

Meet Maria Elise. She is my simself who is now a townie in my forever world. As I hate seeing sims walking around with my exact name, I chose my baptismal names: Maria Elise. It's my dream to have a ragdoll cat and take him to school with me (and be the coolest teacher ever teaching with a cat hanging around my neck) I made her a ragdoll named Philip (I love old people names).

In order: everyday, cat, formal, party, hot and chilly (the scarf should be silver and green striped (hello fellow potterheads haha)).

Building a fallout themed neighbourhood - Vault #2 and #3

Revolutionizing Safety For An Uncertain Future!

More vaults :) I copied #1 and changed the colors a bit for vault #3. Nothing special, but Vault #2 is an apartment building. Much like in the series, where there are common spaces to build yourself as a perfect human you ought to be and homes for the people who live there. And there's room for kids too.

Building a fallout themed neighbourhood - Vault #1

Surface-Never! Vault-Forever!

After my pokémon themed neighbourhood I wanted to do another and I've been wanting to build a Fallout vault in Oasis springs ever since I binged the series. So there we go :)

This is the neighbourhood I'm building in. And yes, this is the spot where Johnny Zest lives. He's going to be a vault dweller haha.

Vault #1 is already built and furnished. This would be a starter-vault.

I was thinking of turning all of them into vaults, because I thought it would be fun to see a neighbourhood filled with nothing but transformator stations as if nobody actually lives there, but people are living there underground.

However, now that I've build one, I might also make some builds based on the other factions. A Brotherhood of Steel base could be fun or a little scavenger town. Plenty of room!

Building a pokémon themed neighbourhood (finale) - Pokémon Tower

My final building for this neighbourhood: Lavender town pokémon tower. It's a place where you can lay your pokémon to rest in the game with lots of ghost types to catch. So, of course, It's a haunted house lot :)

While building I found that it doesn't look very stereotypically spooky, more like an abandoned brutalism kind of office building with lots of concrete. In green. At least that's what it looks like to me, so that's what I went with. I did use more cc than I would like, but these metal windows and doors fit so well, I couldn't resist.

Look at how cute this street looks with the Rocket Game Corner, the Pokémon Tower and the Pokémon center and Pokémart all in one row. And below is the view from the worldmap.

Building a pokémon themed neighbourhood - Pokémon center + Pokémart

Welcome to our Pokémon Center! Would you like me to heal your Pokémon back to perfect health? ... Okay, I'll take your Pokémon for a few seconds. ... Thank you for waiting. We've restored your Pokémon to full health.

TELL ME THIS ISN'T HOW PETS GET TREATED IN THE SIMS!

This was a super fun build to make! I think I succeeded in copying the interior pretty well if I say so myself. Right up to the yellow and blue seats, the world map and the computer in the corner. I so wished I could have fit both the research table and the surgery machine behind those counters, just like in the game, but they were too big unfortunately. So now it's a bit more like the anime, where the pokémon actually get surgery and a hospital bed. It's still great!

I have never build my own vet clinic before and this build was too perfect not to be a vet clinic. The actual vet stuff is at the Center and the vending machines with the healthy treats are located at the Mart. Not sure if you can sell other stuff at this type of lot, but you can display it nonetheless - maybe some pet related stuff? beds? bowls? toys? that sort of thing.

Usually I hate it when my pets get sick and I have to go all the way to that crappy ass vet clinic, but going to the Pokémon Center will change that for sure!
