Morgyn Ember, lorebuilding
I had a lot of time to think about Morgyn Ember. In a nutshell: he can't have kids according to the game, so that's why he responded with a negative emoji to Molly when she asked him. But that's boring. I play dnd damn it and he's a spell caster, so we can do better than that!
So here's what I came up with.
The history of Morgyn Ember and the magic realm
The magic realm we all know and love is ruled by a trinity of spellcasters who keep the deep magic in balance. It's a realm apart from the simsworld. That wasn't always the case. For a long time spellcasters lived among non-magic sims and they were ruled by a high sorcerer.
The last high sorcerer was a man called Lord Faba. He found spellcaster superior to the non-magic folk and wanted them to submit to him and rule the world. You know, regular evil lord stuff. This brings chaos to the deep magic of the world.
Morgyn was born under the realm of Lord Faba. His parents weren't actually his parents, though. He was the result of colliding forces of magic. Possible caused by the disbalance of Lord Faba's rule. His parents raise him, knowing how special he could be. His parents were part of a rebellion against Lord Faba, but knowing how special Morgyn is they don't want him to be a part of it yet. They want him to have a childhood. Morgyn supresses his growing magic, but he's smart, he learns quickly and is a powerful spellcaster, especially for his young age. He secretly joins a mission, he wants to help. One big bang of accidental fire, embers and heat and the mission is a success, but his parents and many other rebels will not come home. Morgyn is taken by Lord Faba's men.
Evil lord Faba remebers an old drawing. It prophecided the coming of golden haired child, that would change the magic realm forever, either for the worse or good. Morgyn could be the weapon he needs to change the world in his favor. He takes Morgyn under his wing and makes him believe that the rebellion is evil and his parents were weak. They were holding him back from reaching his full potential.
So he teaches him to use his magic powers and to fuel them with hate and anger. This makes Morgyn a dangerous force to be reckoned with: powerful, chaotic, unpredicatable and explosive. (oh yes, Morgyn is a wild magic sorcerer for sure!). For more than a year Morgyn becomes the weapon Lord Faba wants him to be. Morgyn is torn up by guilt, he's confused and angry at the world. Lord Faba's daughter, a mischievous teenager, becomes a good friend. Someone who understands him. The sister he never had.
Meanwhile, the rebellion, lead by the Charms, recovers from the blow. A year later, a young and smart strategist called Simmeon executes his plan to plant a mole into the heart of the high sorcerer's power. Lady Faba fell in love with a non-magic sim, her father would never accept that and even execute her man if he ever found out. She's perfect for the role and she takes it. She'll do everything to thwart her dad. She tells Morgyn about her rebellion and that the rebellion needs him. Morgyn is more confused than ever, but their friendship is strong enough to give it a chance.
Back at rebel-base, Minerva Charm, a wise scholar, tells him about the prophecy and how Lord Faba is trying to stop it from happening. She tells him that they believe Morgyn is supposed to be part of a trinity that brings balance to the deep magic of the world and restore the old magic realm so spellcasters and non-magic folk can live besides eachother in harmony and peace. He has to stop Faba who's only been using him to kill innocent people ánd disrupt the deep magic that will destroy the world. The magic realm cannot have one ruler, there needs to be three.
The war rages on. The Charms train him in using his powers for good and to control them. Simmeon's strategy works: with Morgyn at the rebellion's side and Lady Faba as the infiltrator her father never saw coming manipulating and sabotaging things from the inside, they manage to get the upper hand. In a big final battle Lord Faba is killed, but so is mr. Charm. Morgyn wasn't able to save him.
Morgyn, Simmeon and Lady Faba form the trinity and together they restore the magic realm. The deep magic calms down. Magic- and non magic-folk can live together in peace and harmony. There will never again be a dictator and everyone is welcome to enjoy magic.
Back to now
Morgyn has been through a lot and the manipulation by Lord Faba haunts him still. He keeps seeing himself as dangerous and a weapon. Sometimes he can't even trust his own mind and senses, these are the moments he still has burst-outs. He takes his last name as a reminder of that. So after the war he throws himself at his calling as a protector and mentor of the magic realm to account for his sins.
The magic realm is stable and thriving. This is when he meets Molly. They fall in love. She understands their roles as chosen ones and what that does to a person. She understands what it means to live your life in service of the greater good. She understands him. But falling in love wasn't something he ever planned for himself. Is he really worth it? Can he live a normal life? Is he allowed to? And now she's asking him about kids! He's not a normal sim, can he even have kids? What if he passes on his explosive powers? What if he hurts Molly or the kids? What if he kills them?
