The Importance of Local Produce
Whenever I end up in another country I always make sure I do two things. First of all I make sure I get a new deck of cards - preferably something with a tacky picture on it (there's not accounting for taste I suppose), and secondly if I can find a music shop I'll always be sure to ask for the best of something local.
I came away from New Zealand with a lot of music from a lot of different bands, but more than a year on and it's The Woolshed Sessions that are still shining like a beacon for me.
I was handed their CD in a Marbecks store in Christchurch, close to the end of my trip when I asked if they had something folk-y and considering my flight was a little over 26 hours in total even I was impressed when I ran down the CD players batteries on that CD alone on the way home.
Don't get me wrong, I loved (and still love) all the other albums I bought, from Midnight Youth through to Deceptikonz but The Woolshed Sessions are always ready and waiting for me on my iTunes whatever sort of mood I'm in and never fails to get me singing along (awfully).
My one and only fear however is that they might never come over to England and so I shall just have to settle for clinging on to hope that they have a well-timed gig while I'm out again in November, because they are one of the few bands I would dearly love to see live.
So, in parting I shall leave you with their first, and possibly only-to-date music video. I hope everyone else enjoys them as much as I do.
