Marble Phrogg
Marble Phrogg - I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better [1968]
Marble Phrogg put out just one record, in 1968, and it's pretty lofi and pretty trippy. In fact, I just had a colorful vision of an elephantine rose petal being dipped into a golden basin filled with LSD while listening to a track called "Fields of Sun." A scant supply of information exists about Marble Phrogg on the internet. The "official Marble Phrogg site" consists of a 1995-era front door which, indeed, hasn't been modified since March 2009. They have no Wikipedia entry, and only 900 plays on last.fm. There's something so charming to me about an old band remaining in obscurity In This Day & Age. Here's a link to the whole record, if you like that sort of thing. "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better" is the poppiest thing on here, aside from the Steppenwolf cover (don't ask) and the Rolling Stones cover (a totally enjoyable though unchanged rendition of "Connection," one of my favorite non-single RS tracks). I'm drawn to this track at the moment because I'm working on an 8tracks mix called "Starry-Eyed Fuzz" -- fuzzy, midtempo rock songs from the 60s about romance. Gonna be good!
