In 1964, French poet, artist and inventor of modern poésie sonore Henri Chopin started the periodical artists publication Revue OU – a self-published showbag containing heterogeneous material: various printed matter and screen-prints in various sizes, typewriter poems and odd collages, foldout leaflets and small objects, playful tinkered design handicrafts and even vinyl-records. Conceptual literature, concrete art and sound-poetry were combined to push the borders of abstraction towards a-semantic art and the materiality of the media. This publication was influenced by crucial avant-garde artists and movements like Stephane Mallarme and abstract literature, Raoul Hausmann and Dada or the Lettrist International.
If history is not seen as a linear construction of narration, but rather as a polyvalent, multidirectional mirror – then it is my aim to combine artistic research about this historical topic with my current artistic work.
The research about the Revue OU might lead into an exhibition or publication with documentary value, but is also an aesthetic catalyst for the work with my group Institut für Feinmotorik, which works in different media – combining methods of appropriation, remixing and reworking historical methods and content.
