"Trying something new tonight," Jules announces, tapping her wooden spoon against the rim of the pot. She doesn't need to turn around to know the Duke's made his appearance - the creaking of her sturdy dining room chair gives him away. Besides, the dinner invitation said 7:30, and he's always had a gentleman's punctuality. "You're invited because you'll be honest with me about it."

She starts filling a plate of lasagna bolognese, finally turning to greet him with a grin. "You didn't think you were getting anything for free, did you?"

"Too late." he says to @marchandmodeste, a small smile twitching at the corner of his mouth.

He's well aware this particular...cadre of merchants is not nearly what they seem, and not entirely on the up-and-up. But that doesn't bother him anywhere near so much as other people he's dealt with. He's come face to face with evil before, after all. A lighter shade of gray is welcome.

"They call you the Duke, right?" he asks, looking up at the small amount of him that he can see in the lighter's glow. "They say you know the area well."

The youngest Dimitrescu had somewhat come to terms with living under the Duke's rule. She had mostly stayed out of his sight, because that was what Bela had told her to do.

The redhead was currently strolling through the library - one of many rooms the Duke had remodeled for himself. All her favorite books were gone and replaced with boring things.

A little bit too focused on one of the shelves Daniela bumped straight into a table, knocking over a stack of book. And before the redhead could react the books knocked over various other things and she could only watch in horror as glasses, vials and other expensive looking things fell to the marble floor and shattered in thousand pieces. Daniela slowly backed away from the table. "No, no, no," she muttered in panic. She should have listened to her eldest sister and not set a foot in this part of the castle.

She’s never seen anyone die from the cold before. Honestly, she sometimes forgot that it was the kind of thing a normal person had to worry about. But there were always the signs, and his slow movements were enough for her to put it together.

Her hands burn hot, flames rising from them. “Yeah.” She agrees, though, it’s not really for her. She doesn’t even feel cold. “Your fingers aren’t gonna fall off, are they?” She has no clue when that kind of thing happens, but she’s heard it said before. Carefully, she shuffles a bit closer.

There is a pressure to her mattress, one that instantly slides her to his side. She smiles, and makes a muffled sound of joy against her pillow and curls. They had plans to get away to this here humble cabin on the outskirts of Lord Beneviento's domain. She rolls over to see him and greet him with a kiss, and waving rub of his belly. "You made it." She told her mistress she'd be foraging for the household, so they have the entire weekend to just them.
