poor attempt at semirealism that i tried doing this afternoon! it’s not too great but it’s done so i might as well post it...i haven’t done semirealism in years so it definitely needs work :P this is emela from mardek, a flash game series i played a ton as a child that heavily inspired me to draw when i was younger!! replayed it recently and it’s really good; it’s also pretty cheap on steam so check it out if you wanna try a pokémon-like RPG

So it turns out one of the flash games by a developer who was kind of a HUGE influence on Kiddo back in the day is on Steam, I’m gonna post the link in a reblog

It’s MARDEK btw if that rings a bell for anyone, if the steam release takes off there’s a chance he’ll release some of his other old flash games in a pay what you want pack

For the record this dude has had a rough last few years, including having to have brain surgery (he’s apparently recovering pretty well) and I’d like to see things get better for him (I’ve been kind of lurking his DA account for a while now and it got a little concerning there for a few years)

So yeah! If you need a rundown of the game itself it’s a retro JRPG with some really interesting gameplay concepts.  It only got to chapter 3 but there’s apparently notes on where he’d planned on taking things and the gameplay itself is fun enough to be worth it; plus the OST is on there and you can buy them in a pack together and it’s very pretty music.

MARDEK 2 OST Remastered - Memory

Music From Mardek 2 OST Remastered! Memory with brand new instruments.

Now we need to start making music for Mardek 2 OST.  Music from Tobias Cornwall’s (Pseudolonewolf) excellent flash game series. Memory is like a summarization of past Mardek theme music into one. It works like a TV-series showing what happened last time. Memory reminds gamers of mardek game what happened. Theme has sad atmosphere. I wanted add more violin elements to make it even more clear.
