For this evening's astronomical selections we have a waxing gibbous Moon, replete with Sinus Iridum, Gassendi, Mare Humorum and Schiller nicely contrasted on the terminator. Because there are no planets available, and because they were strategically placed in the early spring western sky, we also have Sirius, Betelgeuse, the Orion Nebula (or what of it you can see in the belly of an urban beast), and Rigel. Waxing gibbous Moon tonight, some ridges in Mare Imbrium catching the predawn light along the shadow edge, lots of southern craters prominent around Tycho. The Montes Carpatus along the lower corner of Imbrium near the terminator looked especially big and lumpy this evening. Hey, fun fact: tomorrow is #ObserveTheMoon Night, grab some binox or just go out and look up at our nearest neighbor in the Universe. 🌔🤩👍 Finally, we have Callisto Ganymede Jupiter Io Europa, really looking like a mini solar system through the lens. Big, bright and shiny tonight. Lots of crunchy craters along the edge; all the fresh white craters Tycho, Copernicus, Proclus, Aristarchus (some with rays, some not), Gassendi on the edge of Mare Humorum and Plato on the edge of Mare Imbrium; and just the barest hint of Mare Australe on the Far Side peeking over the rim on the right, a little muddled by the yellow refraction ring.
