Carrying somebags filled with purchases for their current stay in this city, Marek tried tomake his way through the crowded streets.

After sometime he reached the plaza, which luckily was less crowded right now. Stoppingfor a moment, Marek took a deep breath. He definitely wasn’t one for stuffedand crowded places.

If wasexact this moment someone suddenly called out to him. Well, more like shoutedat him. Jumping slightly, Marek looked in the direction the voice had comefrom. There was a kid, practically dashing towards him, looking like he wasbeing chased. Marek couldn’t react in time and so the kid collided with himhead on and the both of them fell down to the ground.

Marek looked at the young man with the bullet wound he had found before. He could tell this man was a pirate but he actually couldn’t care less about that. In fact it didn’t make any difference to him who he was helping, even though he was a marine. Pirate or not, this man was still a person and an injured one at that, and therefore Marek felt obliged to help.

It wasn’t easy to get a grip of the bullet, especially not with the gloves Marek had put on, but luckily he had quite slender fingers.

“Okay, hold still. This is going to hurt.”

Marek took a deep breath and with an abrupt tug he pulled the bullet out. Setting it aside he started to clean and bandage the wound. When he was finished, he looked at the other man again.

“Do you feel better now?”

From what Marek could perceive, the other male seemed to take his time before putting out the flames on his coat. And from the sound of it he had started patting it out with his bare hand. Marek frowned slightly.

Isn’t he scared of burning himself? Or did it happen often enough for him to be used to it?

The air still smelled of burnt feathers but the sizzling sound of the flames was gone, meaning that the other had successfully extinguished the fire. Marek didn’t want to imagine what would have happened if the fire hadn’t been put out. Seeing the house he had lived in being burned down and losing his mother to it at the age of seven had been enough fire for the young man and also had left its marks on his body. So every little fire around him made him nervous, which was also one of the reasons why he had approached the stranger.

But there was one little thing that bothered Marek: the absence of a ‘Thank you’; overall the lack of an audible response. Since he had lost his eyesight, all he could rely on were sounds, even with the echolocation ability granted by his devil fruit.

“Excuse me again, Sir” he approached the other once more. “I don’t want to come off as rude, but I failed to hear any words of thanks.”

Being lockedin a room wasn’t exactly the kind of situation Marek was overly fond of beingin, especially not after his last encounter with his father. But now he wasstuck in an elevator with another person. He didn’t know which floor they werestuck in or how long it would take for someone to come and let them out. Thelamps also had started to flicker uncontrollably; it would only be a matter oftime until they went out completely. Not that he would mind it that much, dueto the echolocation ability of his devil fruit Marek was able to deal with thedark.

Marek lookedover to the other person who was stuck together with him. He had never seenthis man before and therefore didn’t know if he was okay with being stuck here.Maybe some talking could help the both of them to cope with this situation and luckilyhe also had his guitar with him.

“It seems like we’ll have to stay in here forsome time” he saidwith a smile. Man, did he suck at starting a conversation.

“Hey I- Oh, wrong person.”

It was a rather peaceful day at the small town Marek and Clara were currently staying at. While Clara had been gone to refresh the food supplies for their further journey, Marek decided to go for a walk through the town. 

Since his eyesight was getting better again he was finally able to perceive the colors around him. Having shouldered his guitar, he watched the small fountain on the marketplace with a content smile. 

That was when an unknown voice called out to him. With a small frown he turned around to face the stranger, not recognizing the person. 

“Can I help you?” he asked with a polite smile.
