Dear Maren,

I want to let you know that person is so wrong. When you first told me your secrets, I was scared, but I was honored that you'd tell me. Those scars are your stories. They are your times of trouble and hurt and you personal Hell and the remembrance that you made it through every obstacle and overcame it with grace. I go back to eighth grade, you were standing at the gates of your Hell and you leaned on God and was determined to turn your life around. I'm so proud of you. I've never met a stronger human being. That person is full of bullshit if he thinks that. Sure, you have baggage, but that makes you you! Those scars make you beautiful and strong and wise and amazing. That part of your life is a closed book, finished, yet you choose to let people in so they don't do the same. You let me in in eighth grade when I was hitting my low and I was injuring and hurt and mad at the world and you let me in, and dammit, you changed my life. Then again in ninth grade and tenth grade. I was lost and still would be without you. You help me remember that the world doesn't suck. When I have a best friend like you, I am invincible. Nothing can stop me, because I have my best friend and her knowledge and her wisdom and she will always love me and have faith in me. I'm proud to know that my best friend is so strong and beautiful and amazing.  I really want to emphasize what I mean up there, by when I said you changed my life. I was in a bad place when we met, it didn't seem like it, but I was. I was in a rut. You know what I did to help it. When I found you, it became less and less until the need to do it was gone. You know why? Because I had someone that I could talk to and that I knew would always be there for me and that would drop me for someone else. You were my second true best friend (Amber had been there). TRUE best friend. I love you, so much. I pray that you know at least that. You are the best best friend ever. God really gave me a gift for the rest of my life, he gave me you. <3
