Nanatsu no taizai characters that we know close to nothing about - part 2
The queen of Liones. Caroline Liones was another name that I just found out when searching for this post. Funny how the queen of the main Kingdom of the series seems to have zero importance for the entire royal family.
What we know about her:
Was the queen of Liones(duh).
Wife of King Bartra.
The biological mother of Veronica and Margaret.
The adoptive mother of Elizabeth.
Died a long time before the beginning of the series.
Decided to adopt Elizabeth before her husband did( I am not sure of that, so correct me if I’m wrong).
What I think about her:
She is pointless. She just exists to give the princesses a mother. She isn’t a character she is just there because she had to be. But my question is why. Why get rid of her like that? Would it hurt to have the queen and king in the story?
Apparently she decided to adopt Elizabeth before Bartra did but in the end this means nothing. Because Elizabeth doesn’t remember her! Hell, nobody seems to remember her. There are no mentions of her. No moments where the king was like “if only you were here, my love”. We don’t even know how she died and it’s a shame because it could be used to show more of the life of the royal family before the return of the sins.
I may be a looking a bit too deep into this but I am tired of writers killing the mothers of the characters for no reason. And as much as I know she couldn’t change much in a story that isn’t about her, I don’t see why Caroline Liones couldn’t be part of the story of the royal family and especially Elizabeth.
( EXTRA ) What could have been done with her if she didn’t die:
It’s obvious that Caroline loves her family deeply so it makes sense for her to be alongside her husband for most of the time, not exactly groundbreaking for her character but it makes sense. She could bring out more of his funny and happy side and balance with her calmer personality( that she probably had).
With her daughters she is protective and loving and I would love to see how she would absolutely have no less love for Elizabeth than for her other daughters. Elizabeth could look for Caroline to talk more about her origins before becoming the third princess and feelings for Meliodas or her doubts and fears about losing those she care about.
So yeah, she would still be just “the mom” but at least she would be more than just a passing mention.
Her apparence:
It is worse than I originally thought when I started looking for her information. I mean with Rajine we at least get to see her for some moments but with Caroline there is just one small illustration of what she looked like and we don’t even see her freaking face. So I don’t got much to work with so… I improvised.
Logically speaking it makes sense for her to look like her daughters and her hair gives me the impression that she looks more like Margaret. And since I’m looking into a what If scenario with her why not show an older her with her oldest daughter.
