Day two of Halloween! Yay! Today’s artwork is inspired by the TV show “Bates Motel.” I absolutely loved the series (team Ramiro for life). Where the show has been over for a couple years and the fact that the movie that it is inspired by is nearly 60 years old I don’t think a spoiler warning that Norma is dead is necessary.

This piece is digitally made in Photoshop CS6 and is based on her funeral and the subsequent exhumation of her body, thus the title being "Sweet Norma." Happy birthday to Libras! As a Libra your rule begins September 22 to October 23rd. Your element is air and you are aligned with Venus. As a Libra you are viewed as kind, gentle and lovers of beauty, harmony and peace. However, in your efforts to keep everyone happy, you may find it difficult to say ‘NO’ to anyone, and as a result, end up getting stressed.

As a Libra your symbol is the scales. The Libras that I know tend to say, “UUUUuugh my symbol is the worst!” So I kept that in mind while working on this design. I decided to take Libra to ancient Egypt where she and place her as the ever important scales of Anubis. For those that don’t know their Egyptology the scales was one of the trials before entering the ancient equivalent of heaven. When you would die Anubis would weigh your heart on the scales against a feather, if your heart weighed less due to the good deeds of your mortal life you would pass on. If your heart outweighed the feather your heart would be eaten by Ammit and you would cease to exist entirely. Making the scales an important bridge in the afterlife.
