Rewatching Criminal Minds for the millionth time and I'd like to say 4x24 Amplification is the perfect moreid episode. Exhibit A:
Here's a small breakdown of this entire scene I did just because....
This is THEE (tm) moreid scene. Honestly there's some that come close (i.e. the scene where Derek leaves and tells Spence about his kid, the joke war etc) but THIS is the moreid scene. period. When you break it down like... ohmygod Derek is usually calm and collected but one second Reid was right there and the next he's gone... They're dealing with an airborne killer right now and there's nothing Derek wants more than Reid in his line of sight... but he's not there and Morgan starts booking it because where the fuck is Reid?
He wants to know what the fucking deal is and Spencer is like nope nope I'm not letting you get exposed either and then it's just downhill from there . But the acting is god tier
Shemar and Matthew poured their souls into this small scene but it created such an incredible impact.
Which is why THIS is such a good scene. You can see how worried Derek is. He rarely wears his emotions on his sleeve but Reid was HIS responsibility and he just potentially got exposed. and he's so fucking HURT because he should have been there the entire time. It should have been him.
AND WHAT DOES REID RESPOND WITH ???? HE SAYS HE'S SORRY BECAUSE HE KNOWS DEREK. HE KNOWS DEREK WOULD WANT TO TRADE PLACES WITH HIM IN A FUCKING HEARTBEAT. HE KNOWS DEREK WANTS HIM OUT OF THERE. HE KNOWS IT AND HE KNOWS HE CANT CHANGE ANYTHING SO HE'S FUCKING SORRY
I just really love that Reid says he's sorry. It's such an incredible end to the scene because they're both so emotionally bare and it's all happening so fast but Reid is like I gotta tell him this. If I do nothing else, then I have to tell him this.
