I'm watching maria-sama ga miteru again. I don't remember any of the drama or plot at all. I probably barely understood it then. But damn. It's actually pretty fun lol. Back in the day I think I was just feeling the vibes deeply. Now I don't feel the vibes but the drama is really snappy!
Its actually kinda cool how they make the cool older love interest a total idiot baby hahahaha. Sachiko-sama...what came first, strawberry panic or this...?
But also the rose council are such assholes to sachiko ??? Pfffft they were like: hm you didn't show up to our meetings with the boys, now you're paired up with one, sachiko repeatedly is like: I DONT want to dance with some boy, and they're like uh lol you dont even have a mentee/lil sister so you don't get a say (AFTER SHE GOT REJECTED BY A GIRL WHO IS IN THE ROOM) and then when she gets herself a random girl, they're like hm right you just grabbed a random girl right? And sachiko straight up goes: HOW DARE YOU IMPLY I'D USE THIS RANDOM GIRL FOR MY OWN GAIN??? (she is). Nobody even thought to ask Yumi what the heck she'd want except shimako. And then it turns out the council only pushed Sachiko so hard because they wanted to know why she was so against dancing with some guy even though her mentor KNOWS she's just generally averse to men. They even go: hm we're not really fit to be student council if we force a junior to do something she doesn't wanna do. And then sachiko goes for the 'solution'/ bet anyway??? Just call them out on their immoral behaviour that they've just admitted to girl! Her mentor is literally like: oh sachiko is a pushover (sincere) so she'll just do what people ask. SHE KNOWS THIS. And then this one thing that Sachiko hates to do and tries to refuse she pushes her on, Sachiko stands up and says about this one thing: no I don't wanna do it, and the whole council gangs up on her to pressure her anyway. WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE GUYS?? GIRLS??? No wonder that Sachiko went around shouting about it and roping in random girls to get out of it - shes never said no to anyone ever in her life and the one time she does they put her under extreme duress.
Anyway it's not that deep and the narrative doesn't intend for me to look at the current rose council and think what huge assholes. But this does explain why I was like: ??????? In a general sense about the whole character of Sachiko about 15 years ago

Oh ok so she was in love with this guy but he isn't in love with her but he'll marry her for personal gain. So a real world parallel to Sachiko proposing to Yumi for personal gain
