Our Lady of Mariazell

My color choices are influenced by these reverse glass paintings of Mariazell from the 19th century, originating from the Sandl region in Austria.

Reverse glass paintings were a popular folk art in Czechia as well and could be found often in the svatém koutě/beautiful corner. My embroidery is for the Virtual Hledání Noclehu—“Searching for a Place to Stay” that I’m hosting, and then she will be hung in my own little svatém koutě.
