Or, Puppet thinks it would be funny to sent his boyfriend to the shadow realm as a first date.
(this is very Au-based because honestly I never figured out how the shadow realm works in canon)
For @fhs-event-week's shipping week
"when I said I liked you because you were weird, I didn't mean 'take me to a whole other dimension as a date'." The blue haired boy said, sighing and sitting down on the bench outside of school.
"it's not a 'whole other dimension'; it's my home!" The tall, skinny, pale guy who was still standing next to the bench answered.
When Puppet took his new boyfriend's hand (even though Bon insists they're still very close friends) and said that he'd take him somewhere 'special' earlier that day, Bon's head started to race to one possible place to the other, but in the end, the place Puppet had in mind exceeded every expectation Bon had.
Especially when puppet asked him to close his eyes, and when he opened them back up, He almost freaked out because he thought he was going blind.
Puppet had to take a few minutes for him to calm down and reassure him that his sights were working just fine, the shadow realm is simply mostly dark.
"so, you're telling me that this place is made out of... What?" Bon asked, trying to touch a dark gray cloud, that was the only thing he could actually see.
"shadows. Pure shadows, but most are formless and very small, that's why you can't perceive them." Puppet explained, walking like it was nothing, while Bon stayed behind, the gut-eating fear of falling into the void with each step (you can't really tell where the floor is).
"and shadows are...?"
"the negative energy a soul lets out every time we feel an especially strong emotions." Puppet's explanation was clear as they kept walking on their path, fearless of what's around him.
"so, this place is like, some kind of Shadow Archive?" Bon asked, struggling to keep up with his boyfriend's steps. Puppet stopped to wait for him.
"it's not really an archive, it's more like... A place where the shadows stay. At least, most of them..." Puppet pronounced the last phrase so quietly Bon didn't really hear him.
"are they, like, aware of us?"
"some of the strongest ones, yes, they actively try to get into our world. But most of them are way too weak to have a mind of their own."
Bon kept looking around, the only thing he was able to see being grey clouds and complete darkness, broken by sudden flashing lights, like pairs of eyes looking at the two boys.
"why did... Why are you showing me this place?" Bon asked, genuinely curious. Puppet took a few seconds to think of the answer, Bon already catched up to him, but Puppet didn't continue his path.
"because I trust you. And if we're trying to make this a serious thing, between us, I thought you had the right to know what exactly you're in for." Puppet answered, now looking at the blue-haired boy in the eyes.
"can we... You know how to get to here, do you know how to go back to our world?"
"you're doubting me? I pretty much grew up in here!" Puppet answered, opening their arms to the sky (or, well, the darkness above the other darkness.)
"woah, you definitely had the craziest childhood." Bon commented, Puppet chuckled
"nah, it gets kinda boring in here."
And with that, Puppet signed Bon to take his hand, and he did, and then he had to close his eyes again, when he opened them back, they were just outside school. Bon checked his phone for the time, the bell would ring in five minutes.
"huh, now I know why you wanted to meet me before school."
