what sorts of emotions/thoughts go through his head when he's stealing?
Ask About Montparnasse
He started stealing when he was young. Just little things from classmates and stuff. There was that moment of adrenaline when he realized he could get caught, but he never did. And over the years, the risk faded into cockiness that he could keep getting away with it. By time he’s in high school, he’s started stealing from shops and things. Still little stuff, but even on the few instances he’s been ( almost ) caught, he’s been able to lie his ass off and sweet talk himself out of it. He feels good about it.
Now that it’s pretty much all he does, he doesn’t get too fussed over it. On a daily basis, he does a lot of simple pickpocketing. He’s very good and has a very light touch, and has almost never been caught. He does a lot of sleight of hand and knows how to command attention one way over another and the whole thing is more of a thrill than a straight out risk.
Bigger jobs, things that involve legitimate planning, long cons, and the work of all four of them? That’s way more exciting. Montparnasse gets very into it. He and Claquesous are very often the ‘distractions’ or the ‘ins’ for the con ( Mont cause he’s a charmer and Sous because he has a dozen different identities ), rather than the ones doing the heavy lifting in the shadows, but it’s exciting. He gets a gleam in his eyes and he has fun.
It’s those couple of times shit has gone poorly that the heart rate actually spikes and Mont gets worried about anything. After botched jobs he’s super irritable and moody and will specifically go out to blow off steam, maybe con someone just for the hell of it to prove to himself it wasn’t his fault the thing went downhill. He’s really bad with failure and will always look to pin it on someone else.
@marictta.
Exhaustion was displayed on his person, shoulders dragging and eyes begging to close; The candle, burned only halfway, whispered how much time he had left until the embrace of dark - and so, the embrace of sleep. That the boy denies himself the comfort of rest spoke only for his stubbornness -- One might ask, why? And he, with a tired smile, will reply with - Well, why not?
The library was a comfortably quiet place this time of night. It was, to the polyglot, a suitable escape for his late night studies and obsessions. The massive halls built by shelves upon shelves of books were only dimly lit by the singular candle by his side, a candle that, with every flicker, asked him to sleep. But passions for languages burned brighter than the small flame, and Marius found himself reciting old Italian verses to himself, never hearing the incoming footsteps of a knowing -- QUEEN..
