Leaning on someone.

Tousen is proud to stand on his own feet, having navigated through his life on his own after she died, having carried himself and depending on himself far more than others.

But he is a heavy person [figuratively], and he does not like letting others carry that weight, along with both the dislike of relying on others and the natural distrust from his sight being absent. To lean on someone is to let them carry some of his weight; to lean on someone is to allow himself to not stand ready but instead show weakness.

It generally means that he can rest, but he rarely does.

“Now now, Izu-kun. Starrk takes rather long naps and Renji does occasionally take time off to train and follow his taichou. You can tell me. I won’t tell anyone...” Shuuhei said leaning close as if it were a conspiracy theory between the two of them. Whispering he continued, “Besides, I have a brunet, a redhead, and I’m a raven...I fucking need a blond!” 

Laughing as though he would never stop, he fell across Kira’s lap and looked up at his friend. Drunken smile plastered across his scarred visage. “I’m still worried about you. If you were with us all of the time...” He reaches up to play with the blondes hair. “We don’t have to fuck, but...” He sits up, and wraps his arms around his friend, resting his head on Kira’s shoulder. “Will you let me take care of you? I never see you, and you look like you need me, but you won’t say anything...” His smile is fading, worry etched on his face once again. 

“Best friends means best friends. No matter how many lovers I take. Starrk and Renji get it. If you need me, tell me.”

But, yes, this was a dear friend of Shuuhei’s. Perhaps he had come to see him. Yes, that made sense.

“...Hisagi-fukutaichou is out at the moment.” He pauses, considering, and decides there would be little harm in the man staying to wait. “You may, however, wait in the office for his return.”

If he had the choice, he would not want to return to the third anyway. Decided, Tousen swept into the aformentioned office, clearly expecting the lieutenant to follow, walking knowingly towards where his desk sat.

“Do make yourself comfortable.” He more commanded than offered, his hostly manner... Lacking... In a sense.
