Renji took comfort in the smaller’s embrace and returned the hug, petting the other’s soft hair. “Thanks Yachiru.” 

She looked up at him. “You’re family too Renren” She smiled sweetly up at him.

How was it that these simple words could make Renji so happy? He felt his heart clench tight in his chest and could feel the hot tears formin behind his eyes. “Mm, thank you, that means a lot to me, ya don’t know how much.”

She smiled and bounced. “We should play a game now!” The candy she ate was taking effect but she meant what she had said to him.
