First pair of trainers: I don’t quite get this...I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess it means shoes/running shoes/sneakers. I don’t remember. I have a nagging feeling they were air jordans though...

Want kids: Maybe...It really depends.

Career: Something to do with the arts. I’m also thinking about going into an animal wildlife rehabilitation center...

Fallen for a friend: Kinda? I guess I dunno...I want to say yes because my boyfriend is definitely a good friend of mine but when we first met and kinda started talking I wouldn’t have really called us friends; acquaintances, if you will.

Yourself: Sometimes, it really depends on the situation but I generally don’t end up believing in myself.

Miracles: Meh. It depends on the “type” of miracles I guess you could say. If it’s smaller, more minor ones such as winning at something when you were about to lose then yes. and the heart of the cards, that’s a miracle.

Love at first sight: Nope, not really.

Santa Claus: Nah, sorry XD

Kiss on the first date: Nope. I find you’d have to know the person a little better before kissing them, ya know?

Dark Parts of a Dark Whole, a Yu-Gi-Oh fanfiction by Aquailita

For Mariktops on tumblr, inspired by her tags on this post.

Basic summary (this will be longer in the post for the next chapter): After the Final Duel, the hikaris can't leave unless the spirits trapped in their Millennium Items are released and given their own bodies. None of the hikaris or the spirits released have any problem with this, until Zorc is also released and given his own body. Bakura has a feeling like he won't like this one bit.

Inspiration/ideas for this story were taken mainly from the fanfiction.net fanfics "Control" by UsuakariTOT and partially from the upcoming chapters of "Triangular Hallway" by Aquailita.

Rating: M because reasons Pairings: mostly laddershipping (Zorc X Bakura), plus monarchshipping (Yami x Atem) among others

This is the first actual fanfic I am posting to this site. This is not yet on ff.n or dA. DO NOT REPOST OR I WILL FIND YOU AND SEND YOU TO THE SHADOW REALM. I do not own any of the characters in this fanfic. I only "own" my description of Human!Zorc whose appearance in this fanfic is partially inspired by the picture seen below, which i do not own.

Dark Parts of a Dark Whole — Prologue

It was all Yami's fault. Entirely his fault. It was as simple as that. If he had just let himself lose, none of them would be in this mess. That's because if he had just let himself lose, none of them would be here anymore. Their hikaris could have finally lived perfectly normal lives.

So much for that.

It was that Final Duel. Yugi was supposed to beat Yami so that his soul could move on to the afterlife.

But Yami had chosen to win.

So much for that.

After the game had been won by Yami (or Atem?), he had disappeared. The hikaris had been unable to leave for some reason, and Ishizu and Odion had discovered the reason why: the spirits in their respective Items—Dark Marik in the Rod, Atem in the Puzzle, and Thief King in the Ring—were still connected to them and were not allowing the hikaris to leave them behind. The Items themselves could not be removed from the tablet they were nestled in, so the only other solution was to take the spirits out of the Items.

The three hikaris had been forced to go through a very time-consuming, somewhat tiring, and slightly painful ritual to get the three spirits inside out of the Items.

The souls emerged and appeared in front of them, between them and the tablet, as transparent ghost-looking beings dressed in what the former owners of the Items each of them came from were currently wearing, with their own skin and hair and eye colors rather than that of their hikaris. They solidified more and more with every passing second as everyone present—Marik, Yugi, Ryou, Ishizu, Odion—stared silently at them in wonder and amazement and confusion.

They had all expected only one soul from the Rod, one soul from the Puzzle, and one soul from the Ring. They had not expect an extra one from the Puzzle and two extra ones from the Ring.

  From the Millennium Rod came Yami Marik, who had saved himself from destruction by hiding himself deep within the Rod. They named him Malik to avoid confusion between him and his other half.

  From the Millennium Puzzle came Atem, which was no surprise. What was surprising was that another soul followed Atem, an identical looking person who was similar in every way except for his skin color. He was the one that everyone had gotten familiar with and called "Yami". No one understood why Yami would have emerged from the Puzzle when he and Atem were literally the same soul. They all agreed to figure it out later, and decided to refer to Atem as "Atem" and his twin as "Yami" to avoid confusion between the two.

  What happened with the Ring was most confusing and surprising of all. From the Ring came the Thief King, Bakura. But also from the Ring came a soul that appeared to be the other Bakura, the evil one that they all simply referred to as "Yami Bakura". To avoid confusion, they decided to call Thief King "Touzoku" and Yami Bakura "Bakura" until they could think of something better. Because a similar thing had happened with the Puzzle, it wasn't as surprising that the same had happened with the Ring.

But what was surprising was that yet another form came out of the Millennium Ring. This one materialized only after the others had finished solidifying, and took much longer to become visible and tangible. What came out of the Millennium Ring was a being that gave off a very strong aura of darkness. It had long black hair that flowed in spiky strands down its back. It had dark shining red eyes. It had a clean white smirk that revealed one of two very sharp pointed canine teeth. It was about as tall as Touzoku, but with a body build somewhat like Atem's. It had sharp fingernails that were dark purple in color. Unlike the others, dressed in whatever their respective hikaris were wearing, this one was dressed all in black. And most unlike the others, this one had huge dark (the color was hard to see in the current lighting) bat-like wings that in their folded up state together spanned from shoulder to shoulder and appeared to be arm-span in length when spread out, in addition to two large horns coming out of either side of its forehead. 

To summarize, this being looked like a cross between how Bakura looked now and what Zorc would have looked like if he was human.

Everyone instantly knew that that's who he was: a human version of Zorc.

No one could figure out why Zorc would have come out of the Ring. They all had assumed that Bakura was the part of Zorc that was in the Ring. Why was Zorc getting his own form?

The six newly-emerged souls (if Zorc was even a soul) stood silently before them, looking at each other and at the five people in front of them trying to make sense of what had just happened and what was happening now. Then the silence broke as Izhisu and Odion whispered to each other about what they thought was going on and why more than one soul had emerged from the Puzzle and the Ring, Marik and Yugi walked over to their respective dark sides and started talking to them, and Ryou cautiously approached Touzoku and started asking him questions.

Bakura stood there silently, saying and doing nothing.

He was staring at Zorc, wondering why both of them were in existence. It should have been one or the other, not both. What was Zorc doing there? What did that make him? Who even was he, if Thief King was Thief King and Zorc was Zorc?

What did this even mean?

Zorc finally looked at Bakura as well. Their gazes met. Brown met Red. Scowl met Smirk. Dark met Darker. The instant they locked eyes, a wave of dark energy suddenly passed throughout the entire chamber. Everyone halted in their conversations and looked at the two of them. Neither one of them noticed. They continued staring at each other intensely and stilly and silently, neither of them blinking or breathing. A million silent questions passed between the two of them, none of them registered or answered by the other.

Bakura wondered if the two of them would become rivals or companions or....he didn't even know what to think or expect. Although he out of everyone else there knew the most about Zorc (but wasn't he Zorc?), he out of everyone else there felt the most lost and confused about him. 

The dark and powerful aura of energy radiating from the two of them was almost too much to bear. So after five minutes of no one moving of speaking, Ryou broke the silence. 

"Let's...get out of here."

Sipri had looked back to Marik and then back to the other's fish tail. "Mine is only a snake tail.. I take it that you haven't seen a naga before?" Of course Sipri could only guess that merfolk had to be shy creatures if he didn't see more of them nearby.
