Gog, is this a reference to Mario Kart 64?

In that game’s Rainbow Road, you can skip a huge chunk of the track by jumping to a lower part of the road. It’s a helluva a trick, but it’s something only MK64 would allow. Later games would just Lakitu you if you tried that.
