Happy Birthday
Passport to Romance
After being dumped by her boyfriend through text, MC takes it upon herself to cheer Marisa up before her birthday ends.
"I think I'm going to head back or something." Stella looked over, concern swimming in her eyes as she watched Marisa trying to keep her tears at bay as she turns to the exit.
Wanting to go after the girl, the brunette sends a text to the rest of her friends before she's running out of the club and looking frantically for the Latina. Luckily she managed to spot her as she collapsed on a bench.
"Marisa."
She doesn't need to look up to know who it is so she doesn't lift her head while playing with her fingers. Stella moves to sit beside her, keeping a bit of distance between them as she watches the other.
"Was it my fault?" Her voice is hushed, barely over a whisper. "Was it selfish of me that I wanted to travel?" She added quietly and a frown settles on Stella's face.
"Marisa, no. No one can blame you for going after what you want. If Tristao did love you, he would support you through every decision you make." She gently told her. "But with how you told me he's been acting, putting his friends before you... that isn't right." Marisa sniffled as she wiped at her eyes and shook her head. "I know. But he wasn't always like that. The first few months, he was really trying, calling and texting me just so he knew how I was, if I was okay."
"People change though, more so when you're far apart." Stella murmured as Marisa sighed. "I know. I just... I wish I was able to see when our relationship was failing. Maybe I could have done something to stop it from happening."
Stella purses her lips, unsure on what to say after hearing that. But she pushes her own feelings aside before she carefully places her hand on top of Marisa's trembling ones. "You shouldn't put the blame on yourself. Who knows, distance makes the heart fonder, right?"
The small smile that reaches Marisa's face was rewarding enough and Stella gives her hand a small squeeze. "Yeah. Maybe we both just need time."
A silence hangs over the pair and Stella looks around them, admiring the lights that extended through the streets before she looks back at Marisa, who was now leaning on her.
"You know, we could walk around, clear your head or something?" She suggests and Marisa laughs a bit while she snuggles more into her embrace. "Where exactly are we going?"
"That's the best part. We let our hearts take us where they want us to be."
Marisa looked up and she smiled. "I'd like that." Stella smiled before she stood up, offering a hand to the Latina. Marisa took it without hesitation, lacing their fingers together and squeezing her hand. "Let's go."
Seeing that Marisa wasn't as upset compared to earlier, Stella grinned before she looked ahead of them to see if there was anything that would catch their eyes. It takes a couple more minutes of walking before she spots a small and vacant park. She urges Marisa to follow, tugging her hand and soon, they're laughing.
"This is really amazing Stella. Thank you." Said girl crinkles her nose before shaking her head. "Why are you thanking me for a park?" She mused, but Marisa shoots her a look as they both sit on the cool grass, a gentle breeze caressing their skin.
"I mean thank you for bringing me out here, helping me cheer up. We haven't been around each other long, and yet here you are, comforting me after I've been dumped by Tristao." Stella keeps quiet for a moment before she sighed, picking at the grass while Marisa watches her.
"Of course I'd be here for you. We may not have known each other long but I really do like you." She murmured without meeting the Latina's eyes and staring up at the star littered skies. "I know that you're still hurting. And I'm not going to take advantage of that because I don't want to do that to you." She whispered before turning her head to meet Marisa's shocked expression.
"Stella, I..." But there's nothing she can utter. The brunette flashes her a small smile before she carefully takes her hand in both of hers, giving it a small squeeze as she lifts it to her mouth, letting her lips brush against her knuckles before she lifts her eyes back to meet her eyes.
"I'm willing to wait. And if you believe that you still love Tristao, then I'll accept that."
Speechless, Marisa just stares at Stella before she opens her mouth, but shuts it again.
A smile graces Stella's face before she takes Marisa into her arms and gives her a tight hug. "You know, you don't have to say anything to me. Whatever you decide, I'll be fine."
Marisa's arms soon wrap around her waist, hugging the girl tightly as she allows herself to be blanketed by the other girl's warmth and scent.
Though she may not be sure of how things will play out, she's certain that she doesn't want to lose Stella.
Not now. Not ever.
I felt that.

Me @ Marisa’s boyfriend: I don’t know you, but you’re on thin fucking ice
people who have a quiet sex life and wait to sex when they’re married deserve the same respect as people who are open about their sexual lives and be sexually active
