For tonight’s fantasy baseball draft, I spent a little time this morning prepping a batch of El Bertos, my take on the venerable Hemingway daiquiri. This, combined with a long string of sunny days and the time change, is proof that all is changing for the better in a hurry!
The El Berto:
2 oz blanca rum
1/4 oz maraschino liqueur
1/8 oz orange liqueur (I adore Clement’s Créole Shrubb)
2 oz of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice mix (I make mine with a 2 grapefruits to 1 lime ratio, and then a touch of brown sugar to taste)
You can make the grapefruit mix and then mix the drinks singularly, or, as I like to do, mix it all together in giant container and let it sit in the fridge all day and then bust it out and pour drinks over ice with abandon when the occasion begins. Like summer in a glass!
