You’re literally so amazing and one of my favourite mutuals too, I look forward to our interactions and am so glad I found you (and a couple other people) to talk about ryan, ryissa and the oc in this economy after so many years. It's very cozy in a way and I'm glad that you feel the same way. And your asks are the best thing ever- I got like three asks in my whole tumblr "career" before you and now every time you send an ask I start working on it and sometimes making gifs and pouring my heart out and it's such an amazing feeling- like fangirl gene is really functioning overtime and I really do love almost everything about this show so much. YES holy shit!! if you like absolutely pathetic swagless cringefail loserboys who look like they havent slept in three weeks and who are seventeen minutes away from having a panic attack at any given moment then this is the show for you!! its about found family its about grief its about food as a love language its about a pathetic little chef man with debilitating mental illness!! truly and genuinely one of the best television shows i’ve ever watched. get on that shit.

what are your least fav ships from the oc? mine are ryan and sadie, rebecca and sandy, kirsten and carter and marissa and volchok

My least favourite ship is Frank and Julie. It's not that I don't see the vision- they're from similar backgrounds, both are/were messy as parents, into the whole con scene to get what they want. My issue with the ship is basically Frankenstein. I don't like when abusive parents are insta-redeemed without showing us how the change happened, and they're quickly forgiven with the least amount of resistance for the sake of the happy family ending. As much as I wanted Ryan to be happy, I was not happy with how everything about Frank was handled. I was glad when Julie went for being single and a college degree, lol.

Next up... Sandy and Rebecca annoyed me every second they were on screen- it was just painful and unnecessary. Luke and Julie were very hard to watch for obvious reasons and so were Taylor and Dean Hess 🤮 I feel like more than the relationships themselves I hated the framing where Luke and Taylor were blamed for it as much as the adults? Julie with that revenge porn guy (I forgot his name already) was so icky too. Marissa and Luke were so annoying when they were together, Luke was such a douche before getting shot and as much as I love her, Marissa defended him way more than she should have- and then you have the whole Julie debacle. Trey and Jess were very repulsive, both individually and together.

And of course, Marissa and Volchok- their dynamic was interesting in a way that she hit rock bottom ("The more emotionally unavailable you are the more you end up wanting each other" "If I wanted to be treated right I wouldn’t be with you" "I found myself doing coke with a guy I couldn’t have one conversation with") but after Heather's rape (which went nowhere, much to my dismay) I couldn’t see the point. I understand why she did it- he was making an effort with the movie and everything, but she already realized that his lifestyle wasn’t for her, and we all know what happened in the end.

Sorry this got really long! Honestly I didn’t realize how many of the ships I hated in the show before writing this lol.
